Okay, so we have had TWO, yes TWO stomach viruses go through our house in the past 7 weeks. My kids do not have weak immune systems. I do, however, have two little ones who still put quite a lot in their mouths... they bring germs into the house and then it usually goes through all of us.
So, we went to library story time yesterday morning. The kids love it and we have made quite a few friends there. Well, this morning Ellie threw up (so this is stomach virus #3 in 2 months time). She had to have picked it up at the library because we didn't leave the house on Monday or Tuesday...
I am so sick of this!!! I have heard WAY too many moms say in passing (as if it's nothing) oh, my kid threw up yesterday, but they are 100% better today. They say this as their child is touching all the toys within range, and rubbing shoulders with other kids. Ummmmm, is it just me who thinks this kid might still be contagious?!?! OR other kids in the family may have been exposed even though they are not showing symptoms yet? Hello, if you have a kid who threw up, don't take them around other kids for at LEAST 48 hours... maybe even 72! And, don't take their siblings out either - they were likely exposed!!! They ARE still contagious, even if they feel better!!! If you have to leave the house to do errands, fine. I get that. Put them in the shopping cart and then disinfect it when you're done, but PLEASE don't take your kid around other children!!
Do people just not think, or are they selfishly taking their kids out, not caring about the crap that is going to go through every family that crosses their path?
Can you tell I'm a little pissed off???
Poor Sophie is suppose to have a little Birthday party at Chucky CHeese this coming Monday... if this spreads from Ellie it's not happening... I feel so bad for her...
Awww I hope everyone gets to feeling better or stays feeling good.
Ugh! That sucks! I know my group of mom friends is very conscious of not getting together when one child is under the weather. Since they are older now we aren't as freaky about runny noses...because kids just always seem to have those...but pukies...YUCK. Those are definitely 'stay home' worthy.
I hope the illness doesn't spread and the party can go on! Sigh.
People do it all the time. DS got a virus 2 weeks ago and we kept him home 2 days from school and they acted like it was too long. He got it Saturday night.. well, he still had diarrhea but vomiting was gone so I didn't send him Monday or Tuesday. Who wants their child to get sick? I sure don't and I don't want mine passing it on either!
I hope it goes away soon.. I hope your DD gets her party!
We just all finished with a stomach virus. And we passed it along to the whole family DD came down with it early Sat morning, while we were staying at my mom's house for the weekend, and had seen the whole family Friday night. And then everyone came again Saturday night. And then Sunday DH and I were so exhausted from Saturday night's puking that we dropped her off at my mom's again so we could sleep. Oops! She had her last vomit Sunday afternoon. And then DH, me, my mom, my aunt, my brother and his gf came down with it Sun night. Then my brother and nephew on Monday. I feel terrible about spreading it, but I also had it the worst, so I can't feel too bad! Hope you guys feel better soon!
Ugh I'm so sorry. Stomach flu has got to be one of the WORST. My BIL/SIL are "those people" who don't think twice about taking their DD out when she's sick and 90% of sicknesses we've had go through our house we've gotten from her. It really makes me insane. Anyway, hope your crew gets feeling better soon!
I know how you feel. Two winters ago we were sick constantly. You name it, we had it. Sometimes sickness overlapped each other. It was terrible! I also know how you feel about sick kids. My SIL is awful about just sending her sick kids to my MIL, it makes me so angry! My MIL has gotten better about saying no after they have made her sick a few times, but she still feels bad to tell her no. And Sunday at church this family brought their 18 month old that had been throwin up. You could tell by looking at her that she felt terrible still. I don take my kids anywhere to share germs if they are sick, I think it is terribly rude. Most people act like it no big deal though! I hope your family starts getting better soon!
