Babywearing

Who is a babywearer???

I already have a Moby wrap, a pouch sling, and a Boba carrier but I seriously think I have an addiction to baby carriers because I want something new for this baby!

What do you baby wear in?

I think I want to get a Solly Baby wrap - really similar to my Moby, but way thinner and more breathable for the hot summer months.

*I had a pouch sling for my DD which she loved, but it got recalled after she was big enough i'd stopped using it so I hesitantly sent it in and the replacement carrier I got is terrible (though my friend really liked it so I gave it to her).
*I bought a Moby to carry DS in which I loved as an infant but he hated to be so confined once he hit about 3 months and I never bothered to try other ways to wear him because I never was a fan of hauling all that fabric around.
*I have a front 2 back carrier that is okay for older babies (took my DD hiking in it a few times) but it hurts my back after a while.
*I have one of those "free" hot slings that I don't care for and haven't used.

So I guess I have an addiction too Wink And I ordered a Mei Tai carrier when I found out I was pg with this baby because I've always wanted one. Ba ha ha!

I have a cuddly wrap. It's an organic version of a moby I think. It's okay, but I find it gets stretched out a little fast when you're using it. I still put DD in it sometimes (up until getting sick) when I know she won't want to walk. I will definitely use it again from day 1 for the new babe. Especially if it's anything like DD and has to be walked in your arms to sleep!! It was a life saver when we finally got it when she was 3 weeks. We will likely be getting a structured one for DH since he prefers that, but didn't like the hand-me-down we got last time. Probably an Ergo or Mei-Tai. But that will be all.

I have:

- Peanut Shell sized sling
- Cuddly Wrap (like Moby)
- Ergo - NEW last summer. Never had with DD...so excited!
- Snuggly - Terrible, I know. It was given to us before I knew better!
- Hiking backpack

I didn't wear DD as much as I probably could have...but I plan to wear this one SO much more. I wished I'd had an ergo with DD but we just didn't have the cash. I can't wait to learn to nurse in the Ergo. SO hand for having a busy toddler too!

So I live in TX where it is 200 degrees in the Summer (ok, I exaggerate a little), but I will not be doing much baby wearing. Probably at the grocery store since I have no idea how else I'll keep up with 4 kids there.

I bought a new carrier with each kid Smile

I had just the pouch sling with DD. I used it every Sunday at church to get her to sleep, and when we traveled.
I got the Moby when I had DS1 - was so excited for something new! Also I was glad to have something for "bigger babies" because he was NEVER tiny and didn't fit nicely in my pouch for long.
Then I bought the Boba when Ds2 was 5 months old. DH wanted something that HE could wear him in (and no way he was wearing a wrap!) I love my Boba but not for newborns. I still use it a lot with DS2.

I totally think I am justified in getting something new for this baby!

When El was very new she loved to be held and i got a moby which she liked for a while but it was always a pain to take anywhere and just frustrating to get confortable. I also have two carriers, which she absolutely hated. she is a very hot body as it is so would much rather be in a stroller Sad

DH was the same way. He didn't want to wear my Cuddly Wrap or the sling. He would wear DD in the Snuggli but now we know those are bad for their hips. That's part of why we bought the Ergo this past summer. I had to pick a print he liked too which kind of SUCKED because I really liked girly ones...but the one we got is nice. We got it early because we new we were TTC #2 and it is good for DD too. We camp a lot and like to go out for walks in the forest. DD is walking a lot but back in the summer she would get tired after a while...so hubby would put her on his back in the Ergo when she asked and all was great. She even fell asleep in it once! At 2.5 years old!!!

I agree, you should get something new, but what? A Boba is like an Ergo, isn't it?

I agree. I had my cuddly wrap but it was a PAIN to take anywhere. Wrap that thing in a parking lot? Ya, right! Or better yet, while DD was screaming! That's part of why I got the sling. It's easy to keep in the diaper bag, fast to put on and fast to get her in! I like my Cuddly Wrap but it definitely has a time and a place. My friend said she'd tie hers at home before she left, then drive to the mall with it on and then stick her son in when they got there. Good idea but I didn't think of that or pre-plan that I'd be using it.

Yeah, a Boba is similar to an Ergo. I love it.

Since I already have a soft structured carrier I think I want another wrap. I like my Moby wrap but it is bulky and the material is heavy. With a June baby I have a feeling it will be HOT. I am thinking of a woven wrap of some sort - nice and breezy for summer, but nice and cozy for a newborn.

I have a hotslings. Also a snuggli, and I made a sling type wrap. I wear babies some, but not a lot.

My friend owns Mama's Retreat (a local deal a day site) and they have wraps right now. She's in BC (where I live).

I have a but of a baby wearing addiction too and have bought something for each baby!! I have the bjorn which kills my back. So the when I had my son I got the Moby which was nice because I had to wear my son all the time when he was a newborn. But, it was definitely a pain to have to plan to tie it and drive to where I was going and hoping that it was just right to hold baby comfortably while shopping. So this time around I got and Ergo for Christmas and I'm totally psyched to use it!

I have a homemade version of a Moby. I used it some with Lucas but since I sold my stroller and don't want to buy a new one, I'll be using it a lot more! I'm not all crazy into it like some of the moms in my homeschool group who look down on anyone who doesn't baby wear 24/7. To me, this time around with kids who will be 8 and 6, it's going to be a heck of a lot easier to be hands free!

It is something I am considering, to save having to get a double pushchair. But in the country I live in, it's not really that popular. I certainly have never seen somebody with a sling or anything similar. But I don't want to buy a double pushchair. My youngest will be 2 years 4 months when this one is born so will still need to use the pushchair quite often.

I have an Ergo carrier and I have used it almost daily since my 3rd dd was born. In fact, it was so worn out by the time I had Aidan, that a few months ago I actually had to buy a new one, and I thought they were pretty indestructible! I will definitely be wearing this next baby. In fact, I have been known to wear one on front and one on back before. I have another carrier similar to the Ergo, but cheaper, and not as nice. It does the job though.

I got the galaxy grey. It's super cute!

I have thought about putting Dom in it. But I tend to use the stroller a lot for him when we shop to save my back. Though I really should try it on him. How do you feel when you put K in it?

I am like a babywearing addict haha! I mostly used woven wraps. Same idea as a stretchy Moby wrap, but stretchy wraps don't last long (not comfortably anyway). Woven is so much more supportive (you could carry an adult!) I have 5 woven wraps in varying sizes (Natibaby bamboo/cotton green diamonds 2, Didymos India 3 (silk/cotton), Flamingo Indio 4, Kokadi Ela im Wunderland 6, Ellevill Paisley Liberty 6 (bamboo/cotton) and a Girasol Snow Rainbow ring sling. I have a Beco Butterfly II but that is more DH's carrier. This new baby will have to be worn almost all day while I chase an 18 month old so I need lots of options!

I bought a galaxy grey one (because I LOVE IT) and it turned out to be a fake. Sad Lucky the woman took it back. We ended up getting an Evening in Innsbruck Petunia Picklebottom one...this one:

OMG, I LOVE IT! Can't wait to put newbie in it.

I haven't actually worn DD yet. We got it a month before I got PG and we knew we were ttc and didn't want her to get used to me carrying her. DH carried her a few times. SO cute. She's only 27 lbs (and was less in the summer). Here's DH and K:

I love that pattern too! I try not to carry my big ones too much anymore cause I want them to be used to walking by the time LO arrives. Luckily DD is good at it but we are working on DS walking and following directions. Cause he is quite the boy and runs off when he can. Lol

HA HA HA! I have 3 PPB bags....so perhaps I get what you're saying. Wink

I got my first one when DD was a few months old. All the other bags I tried were terrible. The boxy backpack was SO nice and big, especially for cloth diapering. The print is Moment in Morocco (which is discontiuned).

Then for our anniversary last Sept DH got me the clutch that matches our ergo. I use it as a purse but it has a changing pad I took out:

Then someone listed a mid sized back on a used site and I so wanted that too. LOL. Ya, I need to stop, I know. It's called a 'Touring Tote' and the print is Morning in Machu Picchu. This is it:

So ya, I think I'm covered for diaper bags. HA HA!

OMG how funny. I have been dreaming about this diaper bag since i saw it in june. I want one sooo sooo bad! I may treat myself because of this bed rest. It just seems so much better organized than mine and i love the fold out changing pad! I want it... nowish.

Kia, that bag you posted is the Boxy Backpack like my first bag. I LOVE it and the fold out change pad is great. It also comes out, so you can wash it and stuff. One thing i'd be careful with is which finish you get. There are a couple. All the ones I have are the glazed finish. They are plastic-y and very durable. I used my boxy backpack for about 2 years and it looks fairly new. The other finish...the satiny one, will rub on everything, catch on the rivets on your pants and snag. It will NOT look new after 2 years.

As for the print to get...I say get something you like. You are carrying the bag, not the baby...so while my bags are girly, if I have a boy I'll still use it.

good point.... hmmm. i am a girly girl but i know Dh likes that our now is black so he doesn't feel weird carrying it... hmmm.

Just One You Tonal Tote Diaper Bag : Target

that is what i have. It gets disorganized very easily because its basicly one big area, a few pockets but not easily organized. I wonder if there would be a knockoff that is like the one you have because i love love love it but idk if i can spend that much... maybe i can talk DH into it because I deserve it....

Love those diaper bags. That's one thing I haven't let myself get into even though I live not too far from the BabySteals warehouse and could score a good deal on one. I haves few biggish purses so I've jut used those in the past and probably will again. But yes I'm still jealous, PPB has such cute stuff!

You live near the BabySteals warehouse? Oh man, that would be dangerous!!!!!

DH carries my girly boxy backpack. He always says "my baby's a girl, this is her diaper bag"...no biggie...but, if we have a boy...LOL. THEN we'll see!

Blue tulip sounds lovely. Is that the new PPB one? I wanted that one for the ergo but DH wasn't keen. NO, wait, it wasn't the tulip PPB I wanted...it was the blue one. This one...ahhhhh..

Part of me hopes DD still wants to ride in the ergo when baby comes so I can buy a second. I'm such a baby *thing* hoarder. It's really bad.
