Big Ultrasound yesterday!!

I had my 19 week ultrasound yesterday to check on baby and to make sure my uterus was holding up so far. Everything is excellent!! Baby is measuring right on track, is very, very active, HB of 160 and likes to suck its thumb!! My uterus seems good so far, cervix seems fine too, hopefully it'll make it to at least 34 weeks, if not further!!

And, IT'S A BOY!!! I really wanted a boy, but was thinking pink! We're so excited, my DS is over the moon excited!!

YAY for getting what you wanted! I'm also glad to hear HE looks great! I hope that uterus behaves itself! I can't remember, why was your son early?

Yay, congratulations on your little boy! Yahoo

My DS1 was 6.5 weeks early due to PROM. No idea why my membranes ruptured though...labor started the same way with DS2 but I made it to almost 37 wks with him and no NICU time. Hope you have a better outcome with your second too. Do you know why your first came early?

I had a dear friend that had PROM at 21 weeks, which is where I am at now. I can't imagine that happening so early. Thankfully, she was able to carry the baby until 31 weeks. I hope you guys are able to carry your babies as long as possible.

Oh my Leah, that would be so scary! But how awesome she was able to keep baby growing inside for 10 more weeks...I can only imagine how long that 10 wks was. She spent that time on bed rest in the hospital I assume?

Yeah, it always makes me sad to see a mom venting about being done and wanting this baby out now at like 30 to 34 wks pregnant. I know they don't (well most likely) really mean they want to have the baby that minute but until you've BTDT you don't realize how hard it is to have an early baby. I was super blessed to be as afar along as I was and he was very healthy just had to grow and develop some.

My first was born at 31 weeks because I have a Unicornuate Uterus, or half a uterus and he simply ran out of room and stopped moving. He was born via emergency c-section with Inetruterine Growth Restriction, weighing 2lbs 12oz.

When we're developing in utero, our uterus will have a septum in the middle, seperating it into 2. As we grow, the septum disappears leaving us with a whole uterus. When I was developing, there was nothing on the other side of the septum, so half a uterus, and also half the blood supply as well. With a Unicornuate uterus, the baby's placenta and cord is sometimes halved as well. My DS had one main artery in the placenta and cord, while most will have 2, so he had limited oxygen supply and nutrition. Hopefully this one will have a more complete placenta and cord.

My uterus had about a 60% capacity, which was 31 weeks. Now that it's been stretched out, it has the potenial of going further, but we'll have to wait and see. Our goal is 34 weeks, but ultimately it's out of our control.

Yes, she had to be transported 3 hours away to a larger hospital. This was her third, so she had to leave her two older girls in the care of family member for those 10 weeks, which would be so hard! She was about to go crazy there at the end. There were a lot of prayers going up for her and her baby, but he was born perfectly healthy at 31 weeks weighing 3lbs 15oz! Now he is 5 months old and weighs over 17 pounds!

Kristy, I too hope this pregnancy has more favorable placenta placement and a complete cord. Best wishes for a longer pregnancy and bigger babe this time. I guess they'll be watching you closely and checking babies growth via u/s fairly often? Please KUP on how things are going as you progress.
