birth control questions..iud/progesterone pill

I know I havent been around lately...between work and the two kids It's been crazy. Ill update soon I promise. I have been having problems with my b/c not working as in it works for hte first week of active pills but then my pd starts until I finish the pack and start a new one.... my dr suggested today that I get hte IUD or implanon. I have never done much research on this so I did not want to go that route today. instead we compramised and I am doing micrnor? a progesterone only pill. Anyone use either of htese methods? I am confused by the fact that the pill is all the same...when would my pd come? and how would I know if Im irregular anyway will it stay that way? (I liked being able to plan around the week of inactive pills... esp[ when it came to my migrianes) I also don't know very many people that have had an iud and know nothign about it. thoughts?

i have the paragard, its a 10 year IUD its pretty much the same thing as the Mirena minus the hormones. I had the mirena with DS and it was ok for the first 2 years. I did gained about 15 pds with it and after 2 years i started randomly bleeding every month. this paragard has no hormone so you shouldnt gain any weight and you'll get a normal period just like you would if you didnt have any and its good for 10 years ..hopefully this helped

I'm on the progesterone only (aka mini) pill and have been after all 3 kids. I have never had a period on it but have only used it while BFing. That aside I believe that it often does stop your AF but the first bit you might randomly bleed (like the IUD).

I am a little behind on this. But I have a Mirena, and I love having it. You don't have to worry about remembering to take anything and I don't have periods. Every once in awhile I do notice very light spotting. I have found with IUD's most people have a strong feelings about using them and not using them. They do have their risks. Personally I hated the mini-pill, but a lot of people like it.

I waited to start my mini pill because I wasn't sure about it yet and didnt want to screw up our date weekend..... (though the way my other pill was going it might not have mattered) BUT so far I have made it almost to week 3 and no pd or spotting yet... (I stopped bleeding around Halloween..) but since then I have had heartburn (unusual) and woke up the other morning at 3 am and was STARVING......also peeing alot. Im REALLY hoping that the times of my pill being a pain in the butt didnt mean it wasn't working at all.........EEEK. the thought scares me! (esp after I thought my cousin was crazy for being preg already when her baby was born a couple weeks before mine)
