towards the end with reed I think my diet was mostly Tums and mylanta and maybe some food.
Right now I'm fine, and thankfully so with my cravings of buffalo sauce!
Oh joy! LOL. Actually with DD it was pretty bad mainly at the end. I don't even remember having it early on with her. This time I've already had several bouts. I'm sure more rough time is coming...ugh. OH well, totally worth it!
In other news...I'm exhausted! When I got out of the car at daycare to take DD in I thought I could just go back to sleep. LOL. Guess I should get some work done instead.
Ugh to the h/b! I think I'm going to have it worse this time too. I remember with DS1 the h/b replaced the nausea at around 18 to 20 wks. It was pretty uncomfortable with him although I didn't take meds beyond tums. I did have a bowl or two of icecream daily to help calm it. I found that was soothing at bedtime for me. It wasn't really too bad with DS2 though...had it some but not like the first time. It seems to be trending more like with DS1 this time so I don't know what to expect as I really get big.
Oh, I forgot to say, I learned recently that apple cider vinegar helps calm heartburn! Who knew?
Seven Health Uses of Apple Cider Vinegar | Wellness Mama
Apple cider vinegar is awesome for you, but the first time I tried to take it, I ran to the sink and gagged (and I wasn't pregnant). My brother does a shot of it. I wish I could!
Heather - I feel that way when I pick DS up at daycare. I wish I had naptime. Soon enought I will be taking 1/2 of my lunch time errand running to just sleep in my car
Lynn - I think that is a great reason to eat ice cream ;)
Ummmm...car naps....
That article I posted suggested you mix the vinegar with water. I LOVE vinegar but I'm not a super fan of the apple cider variety. That said, I'm a big fan of natural cures, so I will definitely try it. If white vinegar worked too, I'd be good to go. Or balsamic...
I tried to take apple cider vinegar for a sore throat or something once and literally started dry heaving because of the taste. I read the link and question if it'd help since pregnancy heartburn isn't generally caused by an acid imbalance, but hey I'll try anything when it gets super bad. One thing that helped me (but probably put a few pounds on) was to eat a small spoon of peanut butter before bed to coat my throat. It would often at least help long enough that I could fall asleep.
So apparently my DS is allergic to oranges?! I don't know if the one he ate today was more acidic than normal or something because he occasionally eats them or drinks orange juice and I've never noticed a problem before but he ate a lot of one for breakfast and now has a rash on his neck, stomach, and back and around his mouth looks like I slapped him. Poor guy.
If that's the case, they why would TUMS help? I'm no expert on this matter but I can't help but wonder...
Poor thing! I know my DD had a sensitivity to oranges back when she was in diapers. It would make her poop more acidic I guess and that would cause a gross red reaction. Are you positive the orange is linked to what you're seeing? Sometimes kids just get viral infections that look like a rash.
Re: Tums... Fair point - I think tums neutralizes stomach acid rather than increasing it like the ACV supposedly does. I'm far from well educated in this either just thinking out loud. Like I said though, it's worth a shot! I've heard of people drinking baking soda for similar affect and helping. I was just under the impression that 3rd tri heartburn was caused by pressure mostly.
Re: rash...no I'm definitely not positive it's the orange, its just the only thing he was exposed to prior to the rash onset this morning (he woke up fine and we hadn't left the house at all). But I guess if its viral it could have been dormant in his system maybe then just appeared at the same time. Guess we'll figure it out by how long the rash sticks around.
