Thanks ladies. I chatted with my MIL yesterday about it too and she said the same thing. I just wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not to have it match. I hate stressing over details but its a big purchase!
ETA: Forgot to mention I found out yesterday one of my best friends is due at the end if August. Pretty excited to have a preggo buddy.
Speaking of rooms, we just bought a couch from rooms to go. Its a slate color, but looks slightly purple in our lighting. I need some ideas for pillows that will brighten the couch up (In retrospect, I wish I had gone with at lighter color, but DH was worried about stains even though it is supposed to be stain resistant)

we didn't get the ottoman and our rug is burgundy with sage and tan.
Thanks for the compliment It's our basement great room - we just finished our basement last year and I'm loving it! But it is sooo empty (obviously, look at my bare walls!). Decorating is expensive and I'm cheap.
Ashley - I agree...dark wood and tan would look great in that room!!!
Noelle - Yay for new furniture! Dark IS nice. The couch in our formal living room is dark brown and it's great. I did scotch guard is and we don't really do a lot of messy activities in there...but it IS nice to have a dark colour. My friend with 3 kids made WHITE slipcovers for all her couches. WHAT? She tells me it's easier because she can bleach the slipcovers but that seem like SO much more work.
Has anyone seen my brain? On my way to drop DD off at daycare I realized I had NO makeup on! Oops! I normally only wear foundation and powder but STILL. My face looks so splotchy and I had black rings under my eyes. Not only that but I had a chiropractor appt after daycare drop-off and needed to go to the bank and Costco! Ugh! So I swung by the drug store and used a foundation sample to make myself look somewhat presentable. Too funny! :P
I've slowly been wearing less and less makeup as the years go by. Usually I just put on some powder to reduce the "shine." If I'm feeling particularly ambitious I put some eye makeup on too.
As for couches/sofas... leather is the way to go with small kids!! It only takes a kid to puke on the couch one time, and you realize that fabric just isn't going to cut it.
