YAY for good swimming lessons! My DD starts in a couple weeks and now that she's 3 she goes in alone too! I've been prepping her about it for weeks now because I don't want her to be caught off guard. I'm not 100% sure she'll even go! Anyways, on her birthday she asked me what 3 year olds do (SO cute) and one thing I told her is they go to swimming lessons without mommies or daddies. She seems cool with the idea, so we'll see. I think swimming lessons are SO much more appealing now that I don't have to go in. LOL!
ITA Heather. My kids get a lot of exposure to water a lot since we spent most of the late spring/summer/early fall at the lake, plus my in-laws have a pool, so I don't see the point in doing a Mommy & Me under 3 class for us, not to mention that I'd also have to find a sitter for DS. She turned 3 in the fall, but between going out of town and starting preschool, we decided it would be better to wait until life was less busy to get her going (although we still have 3x swim lessons, 1x gymnastics, and 2x preschool for the next 3 weeks..yikes!). And yes, huge bonus that I get to stay dry! Plus I think she learns better if I'm not right next to her.
I was SO bad about taking DD swimming as an infant but last summer she quite enjoyed the hotel pools on our trip to California. Because of that I signed her up for lessons last fall but she was under 3 so I went in. I'm so glad she'll go in alone now. Once baby comes and I'm on maternity leave for a year I'll probably sign her up for daytime lessons so I can take her when DH works. Baby can chill with me while K swims. Unfortunately we'll be away for the last week of this set of lessons, so I'm anticipating having to put her through the same level again...but I don't really care. The goal is to teach her to swim and have fun.
Grilled cheese makes me want to puke after half a sandwich, even when NOT pregnant. No idea why. I am all for the pizza though! I had leftover homemade pizza for lunch today.
My DS1 used to HATE swimming lessons. He would scream in DH's arms the whole time. To tell you the truth, he likes class better now without a parent! He and DD are in the same class, so he really likes it, and she helps him stay focused.....most of the time.....LOL.
One of the best things ever is this floatie my MIL got for the grandkids at Costco Puddle Jumpers, Kids Arm Floats, Swim Vest - Leaps and Bounds Kid My DD has gained a lot of confidence in the water thanks to this thing. It isn't enough that I would put DS in it yet but DD can kick around the pool with it no problem. Highly recommended!
My mom decided to stop by tonight so that "saved" me from going to Costco and drowning myself in cheese pizza goodness. Can't say that I will resist tomorrow though as I have to stop there for gas (my car takes premium and it's almost always the cheapest plus is close to my house).
My DD loves her water wings! We used them in the hot tub this past summer (we turned it down of course!). I need to remember to take them on our holiday. I'm hoping she'll be doing more forward propulsion by then!
We have SO many wieners left from K's party yesterday that we've been trying to eat them up. Luckily I love hot dogs! We also have lots of raw veggies & dip left, so that was dinner. DD had quesedilla & veggies. She's so picky!
