Christmas fun with kids! (pics too)

Well, we set up the tree and did a few Christmas decorations around the house right after Thanksgiving. Yesterday we finally got around to baking our first batch of Christmas cookies. The girls had so much fun decorating their cookies!! (and the baby had fun eating the cookie dough that his sisters so graciously kept sharing with him!) We also started on a project (we did the first "phase" anyway) of making ornaments for the tree.

So, what has everyone else been doing with their kiddos, or what do you plan to do?

Here is a pic of the kids decorating their cookies...

And my Hubby took the oldest 3 girls to the Nutcracker this past weekend. They all LOVED it!!! Smile

Aweeee, great pics! I bought a gingerbread house kit to do with K, but we haven't gotten it out yet. Maybe this weekend?

A gingerbread house - oh so much fun!!! I think I'm going to try and grab a couple after Christmas when they go on clearance.

Great pics! Your girls are adorable. We do Christmas cookies every year too (I have a cookie fetish and if I go two weeks in between making batches of cookies I'm doing well!). We'll probably just do it during the day one of these days soon...

Cute! We have decorated and watched lots of Christmas movies. We will take a day sometime soon to make Christmas treats, maybe then I will have some pics to share! In school we are starting to get into our Christmas lessons, so we will probably do some cute things then too.

Well being as elora was only 6 weeks old for xmas last year i dont have a tradition with her yet... but with my mom we always do a cookie day. We each buy enough ingredients to make 6 dozen of one or two cookies and then share them... So being 4 of us (sometimes more if friends and extended family come too) we get alot of variety and a good amount of each to take home. I LOVE those days.

here's a couple pics from two years ago!

Yum Smile

I am planning to do gingerbread next week once my DD gets back (she is gone for a whole week visiting her grandparents!). This week I really want to do some nuts and bolts so I have something to munch on! But DS2 is being super irritable this week. I have barely been able to do anything so far, and I have to get the house cleaned this week before the IL's come to drop DD off and stay for 2 days.

All these cookies are making me drool Smile

:lurk:

Those cookies look wonderful! Every year my mom and I get together and we bake all weekend. We bake cookies, but we also make Reese Balls, Cheese Wafers (those are my favorite), date nut balls, fudge, etc etc. It's come to mean a lot to me that we do that every year. THIS year, I went to go visit her and bake (she lives three hours away) and I got a horrible stomach bug and was sick all weekend. I don't think she'll be able to make it here - I might be able to go back this weekend. But it's really making me sad that we might not be able to bake this year.
I still remember decorating the tree when I was little with ham biscuits and the record player playing Christmas music. So, I'm all for any kinds of Christmas traditions being started up.

Visiting Nana here-

Growing up, my family tradition was going for a sleigh ride with my Dad, brother and sister to see the lights. Years later I figured out that this was the time when my Mom wrapped presents!
