Do I have any other cloth crazy moms here???? We cloth diapered DD from when she was 10 days old until she potty trained at 2.5 years old. I love cloth!!!! I'm so excited to yank out those x-sm fitteds again. Ahhhhhh...SO cute! If we have a boy he'll be all girled up in the flower diapers thought. LOL! I have a weakness for prints!

I did 50% of the time. By that I mean, DS was in cloth anytime I was home or with him.
It totally saved money, but I need suggestions on infant cloth diapers. We mostly used bum Genius and they didn't really fit till he was about 3-5 months old.
Ya, we didn't buy the one size diapers until DD was in a medium sized one. I always worried how they'd fit the wee ones. When I was pg with DD a local cloth diaper shop was closing so I bought a bunch of Thirsties sized fab fitteds and covers. They were SO great for newborns as the fitted and cover provided with 2 lines of defense. We rarely got leaks. Thisties has since changed their sizing. :( The ones we got were x-sm, sm, m, lg etc. They now have size 1 and size 2....I have some size 2s that I used on DD when she was older but never tried the size 1 on a wee one yet.Quote:

I kind of wish I had made the investment with my first, BUT... we don't have a washer and dryer. I just can't see keeping all those diapers laying around all week until taking a trip to the laundromat! Not to mention I would have to buy a weeks worth instead of just a few days. I have to admit that I do feel guilty... I'm on baby #6 and I'm chucking diapers into the landfill... thousands and thousands of diapers over the past few years... BLAH!
Oh. My. Word. You have 5 kids and no washing machine? I'd FREAK out. LOL. I don't mind doing laundry...but I wouldn't like 'laundry day' of that magnitude. Because I work from home I often do laundry while doing my day job. It makes it seem like less work.
As for the diapers, when DD was wee I washed every second day because they go through like 10-12 diapers a day. When she got older I'd do it twice a week. I am sort of a cloth diaper hoarder....
This is my tub-o-diapers when we were storing them away on potty training day. I ended up needing 2 totes because of all the wool covers and such.

LOL, yep, no washing machine! The only time it really sucks is when a kid pukes in their bed... yeah that sucks big time!! Other then that it actually works well doing it at the laundromat because it's so efficient. They have double and triple load machines, so we do a triple load of whites, a triple load of darks, and then we just rotate through bedding and such with towels for another load. Three machines all run at once, then into the drier, and then head home.
Oh yes! I have cloth diapered the whole time! We did use disposables at night after the first couple of months. I never found ones that wouldn't leak. All ever used were the one sized diapers. Mainly AIO's, but few pockets. I never understood the ones with covers, I may be a little more adventurous with this baby and try a few new ones. After two kids, mine are looking a little rough and are stretched out. After the busyness of Christmas, I am going to attempt to see a few of my own!
Yes Leah, pockets and AIOs only work for SO long at night before they just can't take it. We discovered that when my daughter was 1. Then we switched to a fitted and wool at night and it was GREAT. When we used pockets we were getting leaks every night for a week or two. Then we switched and never got a leak again! So great!
I have sewn a few diapers myself but I never like them as much as the ones I buy. I even liked the ones my friend sewed with the SAME pattern as mine better than my own. LOL
I hear you on the easier part! The laundromat I go to (which isn't the closest to home) has a 6 loader, I have a giant rubbermaid bucket and generally do laundry once every two weeks. I leave DS at home with DH and am home within an hour and a half.Quote:
