Dr. office rant.

GGGGRRRRRRRR! so p-od! DS had an allergist appt at 4:30. (which I had to call this morning to confirm since I never got a call to confirm it... and wasnt going to drive a half hour with a 3 yr old to not have an appt.) SO we get there prior to our 4:30 appt. (mind you we had to completely rearrange daycare pick up, meeting up with DH so I didnt hvae to take him alone because we were suppsoed ot be getting retested. We sat in the waiting room for over an hour. We finally got called back and when we did he came in looked at his ears and nose, listened to him breathe left came back with a paper and handed it to me. not sure what it was... then he started explaining that we would get the results in 2 weeks or so from when the bloodwork is done. I looked at him and was like "wait. we ARENT doing a skin test?" and he said no and we had to go to labcorp because tht 's where the original bloodwork was done (when ds was 9 months and had it done) and he wanted it to be consistant for comparison.... we have had skin testing done in between. Im glad tht we didnt ahve to go through the skin testing but if I had KNOWN that I would have scheduled differently AND not made arrangements for DS to be picked up early from daycare so I could leave work early and get there on time after meeting DH. seriously almost 2 hours and you hand me a frickin piece of paper for blood work!? DH was so mad he had to go out to the car. I was pretty close. so now we get to take ANOTHER day off (which I dont have extras of... the days I ahve left ARE my maternity leave!....and Im already below 20) to go do bloodwork at a place we dont' have in our town..... GHRRRRARRRRRRRA

UGH. That is my ultimate pet peeve - waiting for hours for an appt that takes 3 minutes.

it was even more frustrating because we were comign in under the impression we'd be going home KNOWING the food allergies. Sad not having to get in somehwere else out of town to get bloodwork done and then waiting 2 more weeks .

Yeah, like we all need ANOTHER appointment added to our schedule that we didn't know we'd need. Ugh.

It sounds like a miscommunication to me. Sad Perhaps next time you should tell them about your scheduling issues being a teacher and see if they can work around you.

I agree with Heather, see if they can work with your schedule a bit more. You never know Smile
