I just got a call that my Fetal Echo will be tomorrow at 12:30 pm. I will come back and update this thread afterwards, but I probably won't get any results until I see my OB next Tuesday.
Good thoughts/prayers are appreciated!
I am finished and back home. Baby looks completely healthy!
The original U/S tech last week thought that the aorta leaving the left ventricle looked too small/narrow. However, my fetal echo today by a pediatric cardiologist showed that the aorta is perfectly sized, it only LOOKS small in comparison to another artery/passage next to it, which is currently more DILATED than usual (larger). This secondary passage can be dilated in about 2% of pregnant women, but it closes back down to normal after the baby is born. It has to do with the fact that right now baby is not getting oxygen from his lungs into his heart, he is getting oxygen from me. So all baby's hearts work a little differently until they begin to use their own lungs to get oxygen into the blood. After he starts to breathe on his own, the passage should shrink down and not look so big in comparison to the aorta. He would like the baby to be scanned to make sure it is no longer dilated when he is 1-2 weeks old. So, other than that follow up, we will be business as usual with our new little man!
