When my DD outgrew her RF height of her truck seat we switched it with my mom's seat. She can fit it FF but not RF. So my mom's car now has a FF seat and our 2 cars have RF. I'm not sure how she'd handle going back. Does DS mind going back to RF? Once K's new seat arrives in the new year we'll take the one she's too small for out of commission until baby is around and put her new one in rotation.
I had SO much trouble picking this last seat because our car is SO small and we need to try to fit 5 people in it once baby comes (DSD too). It's a Jetta...I'm not sure I'm going to be able to fit all 5 and keep K RF. I'm slowly coming to terms with it...but it's still upsetting. She seems so tiny still (at 27 lbs).
Heck no, they are in the most dangerous boosters to me. So anytime I KNOW he's going somewhere I make sure we put his carseat in there but it's so heavy.. which is good just a pain to tote LOL
Noah will be 5 next July and I plan on keeping him in his seat for as long as I can and then 5 point harness in booster for sure. Some people just aren't educated in carseats. I can't say anything though bc I remember as a child I wasn't always in a carseat.. I mean like at age 5, not even a booster. What were my parents thinking?!?!?
It was a different time back then. I was born in 1975 and car seats weren't required....neither were seat belts (here anyways). DH remembers playing and sleeping for HOURS in the car with his older sisters for HOURS outside the pub/bar. Can you imagine leaving your kids in the car for hours while you're drinking inside? Also, he remembers them driving home drunk! Crazy, right?
I think my mom's car seat is only good till 40 or 45 lbs. I guess we'll have to re-visit that one day soon. Hopefully she keeps growing super slowly. My mom only has her in there once every 4-5 months though. LOL. That said, once baby comes we might need more Nana outings to keep mommy's sanity!
I know some families who had their 6 month olds forward facing and their 3 and 4 year olds in just boosters and a seat belt. now that scares me now that i know what you guys are saying. El is just to long body wise to fit rear facing according the the user manual, she is also less than an inch from the top of the carseat...
