Our food thread got me thinking about making some items ahead of time before the baby come and stocking up the freezer.
Maybe we can share some good recipes and ideas for items that freeze well.
I'll pick from my normal list, but would love some different options too;
If you are cooking ahead, when do you think you will start? I usually do one BIG day of cooking and then I'm done with the freezer meals for 2-3 months.
Before DS2 came I did a big day of freezer meals. I had beef stews, chicken and rice soups, potato casserole, and some other random dishes. Unfortunately, we just have the small freezer on top of our fridge at this place we are renting, and no deep freeze, so not much room for lots of frozen meals. Not sure what I'll do this time!
I'm thinking of doing some crock pot freezer meals. The prep is all done and it's frozen and ready to put in the crock pot in the morning. I have some sites of recipes pinned on Pinterest...this is one:

My one question is what do you freeze them in? Do you use bags or ???? I don't have enough leftover containers to dedicate to this! :P
I may make a few things for the freezer, what I haven't decided. I really won't need to much though. The ladies from church will bring meals the first week and the family is always good about bringing food too. My mom is also coming to stay a few weeks. I am really grateful for all of the help that I will have!
I have been collecting recipes like crazy. We have a really busy summer aside from having a baby so my goal is to freeze 60 meals! I have mastered homemade frozen pizzas, my own frozen French fries, several types of roll ups (chicken and beef wraps), baked ziti, breads, waffles, etc.
We've been testing recipes all winter. Some flopped and some were amazing.
