This was all new to me even though this is baby #3 so I thought I'd share...
Late yesterday afternoon, started having contractions about 6 minutes apart. Sort of let them play out for a few hours and they didn't get closer together or last longer, but did spread into my lower back pretty intensely and they were consistent. I've never had lower back pain w/contractions with either of my other two so I was thinking this might be it and just early. DH gets home from work and tells me he needs to me to have the baby any day BUT tomorrow [today] because of issues he's having at work. Thanks, that doesn't stress me out at all . So I had a hard time sleeping all night because of the on and off pain, then I'd start thinking I hadn't felt baby move for quite some time, which is normal at night but I'm not usually awake that much so I begin wondering if he's under stress from 12 hours of contracting....SO then I'd be awake prodding at him to make sure he was okay. UGH! And twice when I got up to pee, I had radiating pain through my entire lower stomach like the worst RLP in history and could barely shuffle my feet to the bathroom.
This morning, am only have occasional cramping and he's moving about as normal (thank goodness!). How women deal with this early/false labor for weeks is beyond me! Another night like last night and I'll be tempted to cry to my doctor for an induction, though luckily it'll be the weekend then I'll just have to tough it out for a few more days. But man this is stressful! I feel like a ticking bomb.
Ugh, what a dreadful evening
The past few night for about 3 hours each night I've been having contractions with back pain. Then it stops in time for me to get some sleep. Mine haven't been regular like yours were, but still nasty.
We better hope these pains are actually doing something to our cervix!
Sorry Ashley! Yeah, the false labor starts more/earlier with each subsequent pregnancy. I never had ANY with my first. Only one small bout with my second, and I had WEEKS with my third. Then, not as much with my 4th, 5th, and 6th, but still way more than my first couple. I've been having contractions in the evening for the last two weeks with this one, although nothing consistent and labor like yet. At this point, I don't even really pay attention to them, because they really don't mean much. I'll probably be in labor one of these days and won't even realize it until they start to get really intense... oh well!
Laurie: glad to hear it's at least the norm at this point. I had a ton of BH's with both of my other two from very early on (like 20ish weeks) so I'm good at ignoring those but these felt way different. Hopefully we're all gearing up for the real thing coming soon!!
