General Chat Thread

Ok, I know we aren't as busy on here as we were, but I figured I would post a general thread. Smile

So, I'm doing a huge mom 2 mom consignment sale in a week and my husband got so sentimental watching my price out DS's stuff, that I got him to say we could consider trying for #3 in a few years! I'm not 100% sure we will or not, but I'm happy its an option in the future if I do want more.

Speaking of the sale I need to get my butt in gear! I've only logged maybe 1/4 of what I need to. oops

We are waiting for the deal to close on our new house. EEK! We had the inspection done, just a few more days for all the financing to be lined up. Not sure about possession date yet, it was originally Nov. 15 but we might be moving it earlier. Kinda scary! Moving sucks.

It is time to think about everyone's winter gear. Snow will be here by next month sometime, so I have to make sure everyone has boots, snowpants, jackets, mitts and hats....

Have fun with the sale! I am selling all my maternity stuff.....sad to see it go as well!

I can't imagine snow next month! Crap. I'm dreading snow enough and we only see a little in December and a ton in January/February. I'm meant to be a southern girl. My five years in Florida ruined me. Smile

I've been cleaning out my house to have a yard sale. Problem is, I have no free Saturdays to actually have one. But man is my house cluttered!

Sandra - that's awesome about the house!!! Crazy to think snow is almost here for you and just today I was thinking I need to order DS more shorts, lol!

I'm so tired today. S is going to bed earlier and by the time I lay down, I only get a little bit of sleep till she's up for her feeding. At least I close my eyes a little while I'm pumping at work.

No idea what to do for dinner tonight. THinking of picking up a rotisseire chicken since I don't feel like really cooking tonight.

Most of you probably saw on Facebook that my 4 year old smashed his teeth into the steps of the schoolbus. not sure if the dentist will extract them yet or not, he'll probably lose at least 1 front tooth. Sad :( My poor baby. He already gets funny looks from kids because he wears hearing aids, now he's going to lose his front teeth? Good grief. Can't catch a break. He's all swollen and puffy still, can barely talk.

So that put a damper on my day. I was supposed to get groceries this morning but was obviously distracted so now we have no food. I guess that means all 4 kids will come get groceries with me now.....ugh.

Sandra - How's he doing? Poor guy! Did he trip?

Reed keeps injuring the same tooth over and over and now it's grey.

Sandra: I feel so bad for your DS Sad My 2 year old has a chipped front tooth and his teeth are already pretty spaced and funky anyway so he looks extra special with the chipped one. Congrats on the house!! Yahoo No more hearing other tenants!

Noelle: GL with the sale! I am hesitant to get rid of my baby clothes even though we're not having any more, but I'll probably hang onto them until DH gets the big snip just in case! I keep hoping one of my close friends will have a girl so I can give them some of my nicer stuff but they keep having boys!

We are busy, busy right now. DD has preschool 3 days a week on top of both kids having soccer and DD's gymnastics every week. I was hoping to get her in swimming lessons again before winter but the schedule isn't really working with ours. Oh well. Getting the kids (and myself!) all up, dressed and out the door by 8:45 four days a week has been crazy. H is doing great. He is trying so hard to roll onto his belly but his bottom arm always gets in the way Wink He is a chatterbox and will go on and on with anyone which I love because neither of my other two babbled much at all. He is a grump when he's hungry or something is bugging him, but otherwise is super smiley and social. Kind of Jekyll and Hyde that way.

The consignment sale was alot of work, but so far so good. THey had a small presale yesterday and I did pretty well. It will really be different today since it is the first big day of the sale. fingers crossed!!

So I am officially a milk donor!! I dropped off my first donation today, 225 oz!!!! and that was only from 3 weeks of collecting. It makes me feel good I can help up while keeping my supply up for little lady. Smile

Holy crap. I've so far managed to pump two ounces. Two.

I've been pumping 10-15 minute sessions several times a day since she was born. I was actually getting milk in the hospital at the end of day 2! I was a little obsessed because I double pumped with our son, but didn't make it a full year because he wasn't the best nurser, so when night feedings went away, so did my supply. This time I'm trying to not let that happen. I have so much frozen that I can't keep up, lol!

So what's new ladies?

Sandra - how your son's teeth? Reed had a bunch of collisons at the bounce house place on his birthday and now his tooth is grey Sad

His teeth have healed up pretty nicely. They are super slanted backwards but don't look TOO dreadful. Unfortunately he might lost them when he sees the dentist next month, since they already have cavities.

KUdos to you for the freezer stash! I have never been able to pump much, but I haven't tried all that hard either. Once I start occasional bottles, I'll just do formula.

For those who are staying home with their kids and not working, have you tried a bottle at all yet? Ethan hasn't had one. I'm never away from him for longer than an hour, on Saturdays when I take my DD to music class. I want to try one soon though.

Jonah generally gets a bottle twice a week. Once on Friday's when he goes to my MIL's and on Sundays we bring one to church. It is much easier to give him a bottle at church than it is to nurse. I only give him pumped milk. He has been getting bottles since he was about two weeks old, he has never had problems with nipple confusion. I had a little in the freezer, but he has drank it Sad I was pumping everyday, but once we started back to school I quit. I need to start back again and build my supply back up. I am having an easier time this time around pumping, but I wish I was more consistent with it.

So happy to hear about his teeth! The poor thing. Did you guys get the house?

Pumping has never been hard for me, but it is time consuming. Sometimes it is a nice excuse to sit down for 15 minutes though.

Yeah, I don't think I could find a spare 15 minutes LOL.

We did get the house! We don't get possession til Nov. 15, but at least that gives us time to pack up.

I really should try a bottle soon.

Congrats on the house! And so glad that yours son's teeth arent looking as bad as you thought!

I too am now a milk donor. Making my first donation of about 200 oz on Monday. I'm super psyched to do it because I have way more milk than we will use. DD gets about 1 bottle a day and I am back to work. I'm a nurse and work 1 day a week 12.5 hours. So she is quite good at the bottle while I. Gone. Though I really do hate pumping.

How many ounces at a time do your kids take? DD takes about 6-7 every 3-4 hours while I'm at work.

We also have started pre K here 3 times a week and gymnastics for DD1 and pre k 2 days a week for DS. It's crazy hard getting all the kids out and picking them up at different times with an infant.

I feel bad but i dont pump this time, unless i go out and she takes a bottle while im out then ill pump when i get back, but that has happened 3 times since she was born, not much stored. Should i start so she has a supply just in case? Hmm. Congrats on those donating and sandra for getting the house!

I should take a picture of our freezer, its funny!

Saylor gets about 4.5 - 5 ounces every 2-3 hours, sometimes longer if she naps long. Doesn't seem to want much more than that right now and she's growing so I'm not worried.

We put an offer in on a house this past week and it was accepted!!!! Seriously, I'm still in shock. Just praying everything goes well with inspecitions and mortgage stuff. This is our first house because we have been renting from my MIL for 4 years.

Hi girls!

Just thought I'd bump up this thread.

We moved about a week ago. I'm usually pretty calm, but that was stressful trying to live with the babies (and the hubby) making messes while packing. I'm so glad we are in and LOVE our new house. It's actually our first house which is so exciting.

How are you all?

I'm sharing the pumping room at work now. SHe's very nice, but it was lovely having it all to myself. Waiting to check in 10 minutes to see if it is free. Wink

Noelle, what sort of work do you do?

I have never had to pump at work thankfully because I am terrible at getting that blasted thing to work, but everyone in the hospital biz seems to have babies at the same time, I bet those rooms get PACKED!

I do like the pamphlet and kellymom says to do, and can't get more than an ounce out combined.

I'm a marketing analyst, basically I look at numbers and data an try to make sense of it from a marketing perspective.

I'm lucky with the pumping, but I've been doing it several times a day since she was born. I am usually able to pump 20- 30 ounces a day. I feel like a cow though, lol

I had more luck with the hand me down (had been through three kids) el-cheapo pump than I do with the Ameda Purely Yours, if I hadn't gotten through insurance I would return it.

My pump looks like it has been in a war zone. Its the same one I used for DS and I'm thankful it still works. I bought it off EBay never used, but opened so they couldn't return it. Even though it was still $200, it has saved me $1000s if I had to use formula from month 3 - 12 when I would have been back at work.

What else is new ladies? ANything fun?

I'm wanting to decorate for christmas now!! I'l probably end up doing it next week

IMHO the Ameda Purely Yours pump totally sucks...er well doesn't suck! Wink Basically, it's a piece of junk! I have a Medela Pump In Style that I purchased before going back to work after DS1 was born. I used it to pump at work for the first year with both boys. I wanted to get a new pump this time b/c I was worried about my old one holding out. My insurance offered it so I got one that way and the Purely Yours it what they sent. That's the only option; you don't get to choose. I used it for about 6 weeks. It did ok at first but it wasn't long before I had to start adjusting the cord while I pumped to get the suction to stay strong. Like if I pop the cap off where it attaches to the flange and put it back on the suction would get better for a bit or unplug the tube from the pump and replug it same deal. Anyway it got to where I had to constantly do this or there was basically no suction. So I pulled out my Medela and luckily the tubes from the Ameda fit on it and I've been using my PIS with the Ameda pump kit. My 5 yr old Medela works way better than the Ameda ever did. At least I got a pump kit out of it. That saved me 50 bucks to not have to replace the Medela tubes and flanges.

I hate pumping. Kudos to you ladies!

We were supposed to get possession of our new house tomorrow! But the idiot sellers took too long to submit the Real Property Report and it wont be back from the bank in time. Ridiculous. After some finagling we are going to get Tenancy at Will, meaning we get to have access to the property as tenants until the deal closes. Because we have a bunch of furniture being delivered on Saturday, we couldn't wait and push possession back. Ugh. Like this had to be more stressful than it already was.

I agree on the Medela PIS, they are awesome. I didn't mind the hospital one either, I think it was Ameda. I don't mind pumping, especially at work. It gives me a few 15-20 minute breaks to relax (sometimes I even take a short cat nap). Pumping at home is more difficult with the kiddos, but I just try to time it on down times.

Sandra - that's so disappointing about your house! I'm glad you were able to work it out so you can get your new furniture there.

I'm almost unpacked!! I feel like the last few boxes are taking too long to do, but life has started back up...cooking, cleaning, laundry, work, kiddos and I'm lucky if I get to 1/2 of a box a day. Most of the essential are unpacked, except for my birth control! No DTD until I find those!

AF is back for real. I had spotting 2-3 times roughly a month apRt but this is the real thing. In so relieved because my anxiety was through the roof this week but now that I realize it was pms, it makes sense.

No AF here, but seriously nothing to worry about. I'm considering this a very long dry spell indeed. lol!

Maybe if hubby helped put a dish away or a load of laundry I'd have more time. Wink

I have horrible neck and should pain right now. Trying to get an appointment for a massage and squeeze it into my day.

I wasn't anxious that I could be pregnant. Just still battling the anxiety I've had since the blood clot. I'd been ok and then last week I had to take Xanax everyday because I couldn't breathe. But I know pms can cause any if my emotions to become stronger so it makes sense now that my anxiety got so out of control. Also, AF on blood thinners is horrific. It's really awful.

We are in a dry spell too. We are so scared of accidental pregnancy because the doctors were so adamant that another pregnancy would be dangerous to my life...

Ive ice had a lot of that same pain, Noelle. Maybe from these growing babies?

Is hubby considering the big V? I think if we decide to have a 3rd I would try to convince mine into it afterwards.

Oh, its definitely from the babies. I carry her on my left side in her carseat and DS gets jealous, so half the time I'm carrying a 4 year old on the right side. also, if she co-sleeps with us I hold my arm so rigid to make sure she doesn't move that I get all cramped up.

The massage helped (felt like a vacation for 40 minutes) but then this morning DS was acting up and I felt it again. Back to IcyHot and heating pads Sad
