Going Bonkers *update orig. post*

Just need to virtual scream.....

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phew.

I found out on October 22nd that I was pregnant and I STILL DO NOT HAVE A DUE DATE! Gah. SO over this limbo state.

I didn't even have a doctor (we moved here 6 months ago) when I found out so first I had to find a doctor, get an appt, then he sent me to the lab for bloodwork to confirm the pregnancy. I had my labwork done on Oct. 31. And the Dr. office has STILL not called back with my results or an appt for me! The Dr. told me to wait for their office to call with an appt time for a prenatal checkup pending on my lab results. I was going to call the office on Friday to ask but I was running around like a madwoman all day, SUPER busy. I was going to call tomorrow (they are closed weekends) and then I realized it is a holiday. I need to see a doctor again so they can get me an U/S! At this rate we won't even know a due date for another couple weeks. It's driving me bonkers.

Vent over.

UPDATE Nov. 13
Well I am just beyond frustrated. Obviously I need to find a different doctor. I hate that I am in a new city dealing with this. I called the office and told them I had my labs done 2 weeks ago, but was told to wait for a call from them to book an appt to discuss my results. The receptionist said they only call me if the doctor wants to see me about the results, and he never said he wanted to see me to discuss them. So......I am not pregnant, and that's why he never told them to call? What other logical explanation would there be for him to completely ignore my results and not ask to see me? She said "So, did you want to book an appt?" I said "Uh.....yeah, I guess so." So now I am going to go see this guy on Friday, get my official results and give him a piece of my mind. He specifically said, "We'll get your blood work results and call you to book a prenatal appointment, at which time I can worry about sending you for an ultrasound." So honestly, if my results were positive, what earthly reason would there be not to call me back????? So, what, they are negative, and I got 3 false positives and I'm currently growing an abdominal tumor????????? GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is very frustrating! I take it you have unpredictable cycles? Do you have a guess at all?

Honestly, if you want an ultrasound sooner... say you are spotting. They will usually get you in within a week. Yes, not honest, but if I were in your position I might consider it. The longer you wait on the ultrasound the less accurate your dd will be. Also, since you tend to go overdue, if they say you are 3-5 days ahead of where you really should be, or even a week, then when you are supposedly a week overdue, you would actually only be at your dd. Since you have had some big babies in the past, it certainly wouldn't be out of the question for you to already be measuring a few days ahead.

Get a midwife. Seriously. They are free for us in Canada and much better personalized care. They listen to YOU and care about you.

*hugs* I can imagine this must be so hard for you. I know I'd be going batty!

We have a private ultrasound clinic here...do you have one there? They might do dating u/s? Just an idea.

The reason for no due date is I haven't had a PP period since my last baby 11 months ago.....we caught the first eggie!

You know, I totally would get a midwife if I was AT ALL inclined to birth naturally Smile But I'm epidural-happy. Ha ha ha ha.

I think there are private U/S places here. There weren't in our old city. Just can't see shellin' out the bucks.

Can you not get an epi with a midwife? I've never been told you can't....

Check out 'myth #3'

Midwives Association of British Columbia | Myths of Midwifery

I had a C-section with a midwife! She temporarily handed my care over to an OB who did the surgery and checked on me a few times afterwards. The midwife did ALL the care to do with DD and my recovery. She even came to the c-section, wheeled me down the hall.

:lurk:
Sandra, not everyone is getting Monday as a stat. Some doctors are open, schools are open although Robbie has a PD day. I would be calling.

I would love a midwife but as I am high risk there is no way I can have one - even though I am friends with 2 (neither are in Edmonton though).

Heather - midwives have just been covered under Alberta Heath for about a year but they are covered now. I know in Ontario they have been covered for years, not sure about other provinces.

Seriously I can't imagine how frustrating that is for you! I'm not one to call and bug my docs office (or anyone in general) but i think this definitely justifies you annoying them for answers. Or find another doc that will get you in for u/s. GL! Crossing my fingers you'll get an answer soon. :vibes:

All of the websites I've looked at for Edmonton midwives state, "If you are choosing midwifery care, you are choosing natural childbirth". They all say if you are looking for pain relief, doctor care is recommended instead. Looks like Alberta isn't as cool as BC when it comes to midwife care Wink

Just called the doctor and it is closed. I guess technically it is a Stat. My DS has preschool today but my DD doesn't have Kindergarten.

Must wait til tomorrow............gahhhhhhhhh.......

Well that's a step in the right direction! I'm in BC and it has been at LEAST 3 years because dd's care was covered. I guess that makes sense about AB because the chart I saw said there are 120 midwives in BC and only 30 in AB. I bet those numbers will go up now!

As for High Risk, ya, they don't like taking super high risk do they. I wasn't high risk until DD was breech...naughty girl. Blum 3

LAME. Alberta is so behind the times. Blum 3

Today is such a weird day. Our employer is in Ontario where it's an optional stat. Another co-worker is in AB where it is a stat. We are in BC where it is a stat. Daycare is closed. DD is home. We are not working today or calling in for our weekly conference call at 9am. Nothing was mentioned about the stat or the call being cancelled so DH and I are expecting some unhappiness around this but WTH? So far DH has received an email from the boss in Ontario and I got one from the AB guy. Is everyone else working? So much uncertainty! Annoying!

I would call another doctors office and explain the situation. That whole thing seems like too much headache to even deal with. I am pretty sure you can get an office to fit you in for an ultrasound today or tomorrow, and they can call the lab and have them fax the results of the prior test to them. (That takes all of fifteen minutes) The doctor has had the results for such a long time you can probably go to the lab and sign the results out yourself.

I am sorry you are going through this.

LMAO! Sorry, but I couldn't help but laugh at that. It probably just slipped his mind. Perhaps he's busy and has burn out. Doctors are just human and very busy humans. I hope you get some answers on FRIDAY. Ugh...so many more days to wait!

I'm so sorry to hear you are dealing with this. I definitely agree a new doctor would be a good choice for you. Many times an office staff shows how the personality of the doctor too. Good luck! (((Hugs)))

Sweetie don't stress so much over not being pregnant. I'm sure it is just their horrible office not having their stuff together causing you all these problems. Glad you are at least getting in on Friday. That'll be a step in the right direction.
