As many of you may remember I was agonizing about what day to take as my last day of daycare/work. Well, I decided on June 15th and told my job I'd be working until that date if baby doesn't come sooner. (I'm due June 11)
Today I got an email from the boss' wife (who does payroll) saying they were mailing me out my last pay cheque dated June 15th and my ROE (Record of Employment) saying my final day worked is June 15th. I need my ROE to file for my maternity benefits so that's awesome...plus I didn't even have to ask for it! Super kind!
Everything is great, but baby could come tomorrow, then what? I won't be working till the 15th then! So I asked and she said I could keep the cheque either way! WOW! I'm blown away with the generosity as I've felt less pleasant feelings from them in the past. LOL
Now my main issue is what the government will think if baby is born before the 15th? How is that going to look on paper? Say baby is born June 9th but my ROE says I worked until the 15th! I guess I'll just worry about that when the time comes. I think it will mean my 2 week waiting period will start on the 15th and not the day baby is born but????
Either way I'm not complaining. Maternity benefits are only 55% of my wage...so more money is good!
