hearing concern

so we have always known that Noah was happy and lots of times DH has thought he didnt hear. from what I could tell he did- and the times DH noticed he was fixated on other things. but we were talking abotu it again and tonight it does seem taht Noah DOESNT hear us.... when we picked up from the grandparents (they spent the weekend there) he totally ignored me unles I was right in his face *though he ignored me a bit then too) but since coming home we have tried different things to see if he does hear us and its appearing he doesnt... DH blew a whistle and he didnt even blink! clapped didnt startled etc. should we be worried or is he just not caring abotu noises bc his big brother is so darn loud?

It is really easy to get an infant hearing screening done! DO it! Just for the peace of mind.

My 4 year old wears hearing aides, so all my kids have been tested. Ethan had a hearing screening done when he was 2.5 months old. They can do them on newborns. If you are concerned, don't hesitate!

We thought there was no way our 4 year old (when he was younger) had hearing loss. I didn't think we needed to have him tested. Finally when he was 3 years old we had him tested and discovered he had mild/moderate loss in both ears. He got hearing aides 6 months later and has had them for over a year now.

There might be nothing wrong! And it is super easy to find out.

Does the hearing test they do in the hospital not test for this? Just curious.

I agree with Sandra. Go get the test, just for your piece of mind. I had the same concern with DS because he would react all the time, but he was fine in the end.

My question exactly! Our hospital did newborn hearing screening....didn't yours?

I'd get it tested too. There are too many factors to know for sure without testing. I mean, he might just not care. LOL

Our hospital didn't. Double check if they did, and if not, contact an audiologist.

Let us know how it goes. I tried to get M's attention for something today and he full out ignored me. LOL I'm pretty sure he can hear though. He even responds to his own name now.

Noah passed the hearing test they did. it was one that was based on vibrations of the hairs in your ears (Im guessing similar to the one they did at hte hospital.) They tried a second test and only could get one ear and he was just barely in the box the picture needed to be in. the second ear he couldnt get a reading. He said it very well could be that he is just completely mellow. He also said he couldnt give us 100% assurance so he wants to get a second opinion and send him to an audiologist.

Thanks for the update. I hope it's that he's just so mellow.
