Ideas for a nursery?

The baby will eventually get our spare room which is already a pale green color. The crib will be the same one from DS and same bedding which is greens & blues, but pretty gender neutral.

So just to do a little something, I was think of doing a wall decal. I found some really cute ones on Etsy and this was my favorite

I was also thinking of letting DS pick out one for his room when we put the big bed in there.

Anyone have experience with decals? are they hard to put up?

I LOVE tree decals. That one is cute but I'd probably lean towards something more simple if it were me. I don't have any experience with the big ones but I bet if you put them on from the bottom up, slowly, smoothing while you go, it would look great! I'm really loving the grey room in that picture! I wish this baby had a bedroom. Sad

So cute!

I actually make vinyl decals (not that size unfortunately, don't have the equipment) so I have used them a TON! Literally, they are all over my house in some form or another. They are great because they are minimal work, look clean & as temporary or permanent as you'd like. Just make sure to really be careful when you put them up because you really only get one shot at sticking them on (unless it's a crazy thick vinyl which can be more forgiving, but they'll still start to warp if you try to unpeel and move them). Just take your time. And when you are ready to take all or part of it down, make sure to heat it up with a blowdryer on high heat for a few minutes first - it helps melt the sticky backing and prevents it from damaging your walls & removing paint. The only other thing to consider is that if left on for a long time, sun fading on your walls can mean when you take it down, you have a permanent "shadow". HTH feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Ashley....do you sell your decals????

My dad has a vinyl cutter but in all honestly it's a PITA to go to his house and make some. I'd rather buy them. Blum 3 I'm trying to figure out a way to get labels to stick to my Rubbermaid totes in my attic. Some need to say "Christmas", some "Easter", some "Halloween", just so I can find stuff! LOL. Every time I try to tape a label to the dang things they peel off!

I haven't ever, I've only used them for myself & friends. I'm not sure it would be worth it to you by the time I packaged and shipped them international cost wise, but I could look into it. You might be able to find someone online who'll do words cheap - they are super easy so I can't imagine someone would charge much for them. But like I said, I'd be happy to look into the cost to mail some if you'd like.

No worries. I'm sure there are loads of people on Etsy. Just thought I'd ask. Biggrin

I love that tree. My sister painted hers on. She got some decals and ended up gluing them bc she has textured walls so they didn't stick. I tried mine and sane problem so they've been sitting in my closet for two years now. Lol.

Heather- does that mean the label maker I bought wont work for my Rubbermaid totes?

I'm pretty sure the one i have would just end up peeling off...but they might make more heavy duty label material. Biggrin

Wow, that is REALLY cute!! I really like decals because they are an inexpensive way to spruce up a room a little. I have never tried one that big before. All those little leaves... YIKES!! It will definitely be tricky to get on the wall just right. I would google "how to put on a wall decal" and see if anyone out there has asked about this before. I'm sure there is advice out there on how to get it on the wall just right. I think it's a great idea.

I love the idea of wall decals. I've never really done them before except some really small cheap ones.

I think this is going over the crib

Typically I try to stay away from anything out right "themed" especially characters, and stick with a color scheme instead. But when I found out it was a girl, I started crying because even though I really wanted a boy, all I could think was "I'm taking another princess to Cinderella's castle!" And I was an emotional mess! So this is just... Fitting. Smile

I just use a sharpie to label our rubbermaid totes Smile

I use packing tape on all four sides of a piece of card stock for my attics tubs. Never had any peel off.
