Dr g sent me to L&D with contractions every 20 min, sharp pains, pain/pressure in my who who, and bleeding. They put me on the monitor right away and I was having contractions every 2 minutes. I guess the sharp pains were contractions and the ones I felt were the big ones. After a wait I had a spec done and there was no signs of fluid. Then he came back and asked if I could drink a lot of water and I thought I could so i tried but got too full. He checked my cervix and I was a fingertip and moderate (not firm I guess). They came back and started an IV. I had the worst IV experience ever! They got a liter in eventually and then it infiltrated. That is weird. So after a liter by mouth and another by IV they checked me again and I had no change. Contractions were down to every 20 min. 7 hrs later I'm released with my diagnosis being sever dehydration. So for me 4 water bottles plus milk and juice are not enough, my new daily goal is 108 oz plus milk and juice. That's 3 birthing center mugs plus the extras, they wanted it to be 4 (140 oz) but I will see how 3 goes.
Also, I had the worst nurse experience I've ever had. I'm thinking of calling to complain. She didn't update us, whispered to other nurses with her back to us right by my bed, and wouldn't listen to me about the IV size (I know my veins) and dug around with triple the necessary sized needle. When she put my bed up to its highest height, 4 ft or so, she finally got one after lots of blood and said ok I normally wouldn't leave this... That's reassuring. When it began to infiltrate she wouldn't listen to me. It was the next nurse at he tail end of my stay who caught it! I knew it wasn't right. I had a bunch of water under my skin.
