Made my appointment.

So I was going through the list of the doctors and decided just to go to the hospital I worked at recently. Called the scheduler and made the appt for Jan 8. She kinda had a cow when I told her our insurance didn't kick in until Jan. and that I will be 17 weeks along. She put me on hold and went to talk to the doctor, and probably had a good laugh. She said they would like to see me sooner but it is what it is. LOL, but it's done. It's not the same doctor or hospital as DS but DH didn't really care for my last doctor (I thought he was a hoot though), but after a phone call to them in July and the rudeness of the nurse I was kind of put off of them.

YAY for having an appt! That's less than 2 months away now! :)

SOunds good. Honestly, unless you are having complications there isn't really a reason to have to see a doctor before then. With my last baby my first appointment was 18 weeks. I just was having trouble deciding what facility I wanted to use for my birth!

With DS I didn't go until I was 21 weeks.

ETA: I forgot to say I will also have my big US that day as well.

I kind of know what you mean Kia. With my last one I didn't find out I was pregnant until 7 weeks, and then I rented a doppler at 11 weeks, so really, I knew things were all good, and wasn't concerned about seeing a doc. If I didn't have the doppler I would have wanted to get in sooner. In fact, the only reason I saw my midwife at 18 weeks is because I wanted my ultrasound scheduled!! Otherwise, I think I might have been temped to just walk in somewhere at like 35 weeks. :-) That being said... it IS a good idea to see a doctor starting around 20 weeks because 1) The ultrasound can diagnose potential problems, and 2) The doctor can also detect potential growth problems and such at routine appointments.

I'll be going to Liberty. I enjoy the girls that I worked with in the lab, and the nurses all seemed pretty friendly when I was drawing at L&D, and the anesthesiologists (if I do need it) are all pretty nice. I just live right across the highway from NKC, and my mom works there, and we had DS there, but eh change is ok. It was hard to make a decision though, because it was there NKC or St Marys (where I worked for two years as well), and also St. Lukes is the only place in the area that does cord blood donation (which was the only attractive factor for there). I am indecisive if you can't tell.

OMG, I'm glad we only have one hospital!
