We got 9 baby chicks! We wanted 8, since the coop we have will only hold up to 8, but the store had 9... we couldn't just leave 1, so hopefully they can just squeeze in when the time comes?!?!
Wow, how fun! They are already getting their grown up feathers!
We had 25 chickens every year for 3 years when I was in high school.
Oh fun. I thought it would be a great school project for my kids to have chicks but Jon says no way. He grew up on his grandfathers farm and they had 20,000 chickens. He said we will never, ever have any at our house. He's had his fill, hahaha.
My mom teaches Pre-K and does a chicken project every year still. Those kids love it! They have them in the incubator as eggs in the classroom until they hatch. Then she takes them home to raise and the kids get to take a field trip every few weeks to visit them.
aww so cute
U got me with the title, glad it's chicks and not your little girl lol. They are cute
SO cute!! I wish I had the discipline to do something like that. I have a hard time remebering to water the plants.
So dang cute!! I wouldn't have been able to leave just one either
Sandra, they are actually close to 2 weeks old now (we got them Sat. and they were around a week old then), so yes, they are starting to get their feathers. That is neat that your mom does a "chicken project" each year with her kiddos. I remember doing that in elementary school too.
Chelle, wow 20,000 chickens!!! Yeah, I might be a little chickened out then too. We are definitely going to get more next spring if it goes well with these ones. Ideally we will end up with about 25-30 - that's how many we need to keep up with our "egg intake." Yep, we eat an insane amount of eggs!
I want chickens! Our municipality allows them now and a friend's husband just built them an awesome coop. Now I want some.
