That's a good idea Ashley. We have family names, I just don't like them. I emailed DH's uncle who does geneology and these are the names he gave me:
- Petrine (pronounced Petrina)
- Oline (pronounced Olina)
- Sarah (x2)
None of them are REALLY my favorites. Then I went through my side of the family tree on Ancestry.com and found:
- Jean Annie
- Poppy Marie (my brother used Marie for my niece)
- Mayme Amelia Eyline
- Violet (my brother used this for my niece)
- Marie Teresa
- Amey Agnes
- Alletta Letitia
- Chloea Ann
My favorites are probably Elizabeth and Florence. Cora Florence doesn't sound great though.
I love Elizabeth! If this had been a girl, that would have been the name I would have pushed for!
As for myself, I like the name Mason, but, I despise it with our last name. Jack is a family name on both mine and DH sides, and I it is just a good classic name. Jonah is one we tossed around for DS, and when I mentioned it a few months ago DH immediately vetoed it. But now now all of the sudden he is considering it. I would be surprised though if we go with Jonah.
I like Elizabeth too, and Cora Elizabeth does sound good....
Mason is cute too! I hate it when I like a name but it doesn't go with my last name! Our last name ends in -er which is a problem.
I find it funny how some names that I didn't think were 'old' were in fact very old. I can't remember which ones but I went back 10 generations the other day and found some names I thought were newer. DH assures me that the art of 'making up names' is a rather new phenomenon. LOL!

You ladies have some great names!!! I like how some of you are using your ancestors names. That is how we've picked ours. Dh's great grandmothers name was Laura and I think it goes well with DD (Laina). We just can't seem to agree on a middle name. He likes Laura Lynn (after his mom's mn which is Lynnette) and I like Laura Jane (after my grandmother). Guess we still have a little time to agree!
Personally I prefer Laura Jane because Laura Lynn almost sounds like one name...or hyphenated. Laina is a cute name too!!!!
DH has decided he likes Cora Bristol Thoughts? I don't hate it...but it doesn't really have any meaning for us. Not a deal breaker I guess.
I think the name Cora is lovely. Middle names are funny I think and don't always have to run well together just as long as you like it or it means something special to you.
I'm not a huge fan of Bristol but as a MN it isn't bad and flows well with Cora. FWIW, my MN has nothing to do with anything other than that my parents loved it and I don't feel jipped or anything ;) I think it's cute that he's actually trying to be involved with the naming process. My DH has ONE name he likes and that is all the input he has

I know what you mean about names. Mine don't have any real significance either. I just feel bad since DD's does. If this is a boy the middle name 'Lewis' is DH's deceased father's name...so that's family.
LOL that's pretty funny that her named was misspelled just from ignorance, but I bet that used to happen a LOT before Google-era! Now people do it on purpose to be different...huge peeve of mine actually. The SPELLING doesn't make a name unique because you HEAR it a lot more often than see it written down.
