    Default More Name Chit-Chat

Anyone else narrowing down a name? Only 10 weeks left for me.....

I think I am going to give in and let DH pick the name this time. He wants Ethan Maverick. How very Tom Cruise....LOL. (Mission Impossible and Top Gun) Not that he picked Ethan because of MI, but we were watching it this week and we laughed about it. He wants Maverick because of Top Gun. Such a man, wanting to use a call sign as a middle name! I don't love Ethan, but it is growing on me. DH has also been trying to use Maverick as a middle name since we had our first boy in 2009. I have now shut him down on it twice, but maybe third time is a charm and I will have to let him use it now! It doesn't really go with the style of the rest of our names, but DH wants it so bad!

The only other boy name that starts with "E" that we like is Elliott, and I feel like it's too similar to the others - Ella, Eli, Emerson is already a mouthful - throw in Ella, Eli, Emerson, Elliott.....good grief. Ella, Elliott.....too close.

I think Ethan is adorable. I agree with what you said about Elliot being too close to your other kids' names. I'm not crazy about Maverick, but it's kind of fun and really, how often do we use middle names?

ETA: Forgot to add that NO we're aren't even close on a name. We are both incredibly picky on boy names and have different tastes so it's tricky. We just plan on naming the little guy after we meet him.

Ethan Maverick is cute! I told DH about it and he's going all testosterone about it. :P He likes it too!

We're still stuck on girl middle names. Cora ______ ??!!??!?!?!?!?

Our boy name is Marshall Lewis which we both totally love. The funny thing is we discovered recently that NASA has a Marshall Flight Center and a Kennedy Space Center. OMG, totally not planned!

Ethan is cute. I still think Cora is a great name too!

As for us, we have 3 names in the running.
    Mason
    Jack
    Jonah

I want to get this figured out! Maybe one day soon we will.

I think Ethan is a great name. And I agree with you about Elliot.

We have a girl name already. It just depends on spelling. I like Sophia and DH likes Sofia.

Now boy names are always our issue. He likes Vincent but I hate the nickname Vinny. And a I like Anthony but DH has a childhood friend that has the same name. However we only see him 1-2 times a year so I don't think that it would a big deal. I know he would never think we named our kids after him. I just think think Anthony would go so beautifully with Gabriella and Dominic. So we will see if I get my way

Yeah, we never really make a FINAL decision until we meet the baby, but it looks like Ethan Maverick is in the top running spot. You ladies make me feel slightly better!

(Funny story: DH got his CA (accounting) designation last year. At the ceremony, a colleague of his introduced him and announced him as he crossed the stage. Just to make his parents cringe and everyone laugh, DH convinced his buddy to announce him as "Christopher Maverick G****" His parents and I killed ourselves laughing in the middle of the ceremony! So.....you know, he really likes the name!)

    I love Cora! SO cute.

I like Sophia better than Sofia. Lovely name!

Personally I'd go with Sophia over Sofia because I like it better AND it's less likely to be spelled wrong.

Sophia is a name we both loved but we now know several of them and it's really popular. I thought of it as a middle name but 'Cora Sophia' is to much of a rhyme for me.

I was just suggesting middle names to DH and it's funny to suggest names of his ex girlfriends. He's like "ummmm...no". Dakota was a name his ex wanted for DSD so when I came up as a possible middle name for Cora we laughed. She'd be SO mad if he used it, 16 years later, after veto-ing it for DSD. :P

I like Ethan maverick, I am totally the person to do something like that. With a boy it wuld have been Clayton Matthew. Lol.
i love Cora but agre about not using a matching middle name. I love the name Marshall Lewis, makes me want to do Marshall "wait for it" lLol
i think Sophia is how I would spell it and I like Anthony over Vincent.
Leah, I like them all. Hard choice but I think mason pulls ahead a bit for me.

As you all know we landed on Emalyn but are now using Grace for the middle name. Tho now dh wants it spelled Emmalyn.

We are having a hard time picking a name. It's a boy, and the rest of us have names that have a y at the end that sounds like e. I CANNOT think of a name that has that characteristic, so it's been tough. I don't have to have it, but I like nontraditional names.

Sandra, I like Ethan though...and I like having interesting middle names so the Maverick works. Our DS's middle name is Emerson, so I really like your names.

I just saw Waverley on a list, but I think that was a girl name.
