Mucous Plug?

Even with this being my third, I have never noticed losing my mucous plug. TMI! After I peed tonight when I wiped, there was a large amount of what looked like EWCM on the toliet paper. It was clear. Any thoughts on if this could be my plug? I was reading on the Internet tonight and it sounds like it could be. I am not too worried about it, just curious.

Not sure. I've had tons of mucous every time I wipe from day one of this pregnancy. It's how I originally though I wasn't pregnant because I usually get a ton for two data before AF starts.

It could be. Mine has had blood but I've heard of it starting clear/whiteish. It can regenerate, I am proof lol. I love your family pic!

As for the mucus plug, IDK. I don't remember losing mine last time.

Thanks everyone!

I've read that losing it may just mean that dialation has started and labor could be weeks away. I was already 4 cm by 36 weeks with DD and didn't have her for two more weeks! I will tell my dr about it Friday though.

I lost some of my mine my last month with DS and it was (sorry TMI) really thick and chunky even if it was only tiny bits of it. It never caused me labor or anything though. It had a bit of blood in it too if I remember correctly. I think mentioning it to your doc like you said is probably a good idea just to be safe.

ITA with everyone, super cute pic!!

I always get a TON of mucus during pregnancy, and more as the pregnancy goes on. Yeah, I guess it could just mean dilation??? I am always super dilated by the time labor starts (I was a 7 with #3 before labor started). When I actually lose my plug, it has always had blood in it, and I'm in labor within a week.

7? as in 7 cm? WOAH! How did she not fall out? LMAO. My secret dream is to dilate before hand without even knowing. Blum 3

Yes, 7cm. Actually, when the midwife checked me she said that at first she wasn't even sure I had any cervix there at all. I was 100% effaced, + 1 station, and she said she could "stretch" my 7 to an 8. Crazy huh. Labor started an hour later, and 4 hours after that my dd made her appearance. Actually we all thought it was a "long" labor. Yeah, we pretty much expected her to shoot out once labor actually started. Wink

Anyway Heather, it is possible to dilate beforehand without knowing it. I have been at least 3-4 before labor started with all of mine, except my first (I was only a 2 with her).

I remember losing mine with DD. It came in 2 stages. The first part about 4 days before, and the second the day of. It was definitely not clear though - a little brown (perhaps like others said dried blood). And I didn't wipe it, I noticed it in the toilet. You could mention it, but extra mucous right now is pretty normal. I've heard with the second (or more) it's not as noticeable as losing it with the first.

Also for Heather, yes it's very normal to be dilated without knowing. I was 2.5cm with DD when I got checked almost a week before she was born. But more impressively, I was already about 95% effaced. My doc was very happy about that since she felt it meant she could naturally induce me an any point if I wanted (since a pit induction was not on my docket, this was nice to hear that I was doing well). Labor was 9 hours for me, but I wonder if would have been faster if my water broke - my doc ended up breaking it at 10cm when I was already pushing.

I am one of those people who have lots of ewcm during pregnancy. From day one it is there. But when I lost my plug it was green with blood and lots of (tmi) chunks. Sorry for the horrible image Beee

Thanks everyone. I haven't had much discharge this time, so it just kinda surprised me.

My labor doesn't start until my water breaks, but once it does you better watch out!

I hear ya! I'm the same way and it's always a little concerning with having had one 6.5 weeks early. I wouldn't worry about it if I felt like I'd have some contractions or other warning to look for PTL but when it starts with rupture of membranes it's a point of no return.

I guess with dd I had signs. I had contractions and false labor for 3 days b4 then 6 hrs after my last check my water broke.

I had no sign of anything when pg with DD, but then she was head up. I've already been having BH this time which is more than last time. I SO hope I can have a VBAC!

I've had mucus the entire pregnancy as well. However, you can google Mucus plug pics and .... that'll show you what it looks like. They're really...um.. well, don't look at them while you're eating! LOL

Heather - I posted this on my BB, but.. I went to the doc today (I'm due on Friday) and she was checking me and she's like... you're *almost* a one. I'm like...wtf is ALMOST a one? That's still a zero in my book LOL
