So, has anyone started to come up with potential names?
My DH and I struggle to agree; it was made all that much harder because both ours were surprises, so we had to come up with both a girl and boy name each time. Our daughter was fairly easy to name - I still say we got lucky on that one We just decided to both write down our top three choices one night and just happened to agree - we both had Kendall as #1 - and it was the only name we had in common. After that, I said "lets stop talking about - we are done!" If she had been a boy - it was a compromise.
With DS we compromised again; he didn't like my girl name choice and I didn't like his boy name. So we agreed to use my boy name and his girl name which we both said we could live with.
I dread this topic this time around -- DH actually joked awhile ago that we couldn't have anymore kids because we didn't agree on anymore names?! I like names that are not unusual, but are less commonly used (typically veto anything in the top 100 list). So, I better start looking now !

With DS it took awhile to agree, but we finally did. With DD we just used the girls name that we had picked out for DS, if he had been a girl. With this baby we do not agree. He likes Mason (I don't mind the name, but I hate it with our last name). I like Jack, I think DH likes it ok, but he really wants to pull Mason over on me. He got to pick out both DS and DD middle names, so maybe I can have some leverage!
DH and I were very similar - had an easy time naming our DD but a really hard time with DS. DS didn't get named until he was born and his name was even considered until the last 2 weeks I was pregnant. I left it up to DH between two names and he chose the one I was leaning towards (which I was thrilled about).
Anyway, we haven't even started talking about names this time around. I don't think it's really sunk in for him yet. I'm guessing we won't talk seriously until about halfway through, irregardless of whether we find out the gender.
Our biggest struggle that we HAVE talked about is if we have another DS, what will his MN be? DS has DH's name for a MN and DH thinks we need to stick with family names. I'm not crazy about using his dad's first name but DH feels his dad will be super offended if we use my dad's instead so IDK. Thinking about using DH's mother's maiden name as a MN instead.
Christa, my husband and I are the same way. I love unusual names, and he doesn't. i don't like most top 100 names either. With our daughter I was really lucky that he agreed right away to the name i have liked since i was little, thanks to my sister not using it. If she had been a boy, we would have been screwed. IDK this time how it will all work, we cant even agree on the names we thought of before deciding with El. o well, we have a bit. lol
With DD I liked the name Kennedy before I met DH, so I'm glad he liked it. This time we have a boy name picked, Marshall, but no girl name yet. Last time we had a girl name but no boy name. Hummmm???? Last time we found out the sex at 13 weeks but I want to keep it a secret this time so we'll have to come up with some options. I pretty much toss names out if they are on the top 100. Silly, I know.
