Anyone been working on one? Not sure why (other than nesting) why I'm wanting this done since the baby will be down with us for several months, but I am.
I ordered the wall decal today and am hoping to get a dresser this weekend from IKEA.
I'll post pics when I have more done. Right now the spare room is just a dropping place for stuff. lol!
Ooooh, I love the decal!
Baby will be sleeping in a playpen/bassinet in our room, so no nursery decorating for me I have, however, been on the lookout for a used dresser, since we'll need one for baby's clothes (DS2 is still in the crib and using the nursery dresser).
I'm going all Pinterest on my nursery. Doing the closet nursery thing and also saw turning a bookcase into a dresser type thing. Doing that! I bought some stuff at Ikea and a few 31 storage items too. I just can't put anything together until we paint the closet.
I found a book in our playroom titled Oliver and its about an elephant. I decided to run with that. So I'm decorating with an elephant theme. Ikea had a ton of elephant stuff so that worked out. I think it's going to be cute. I'll also be putting up some sort of Disney quote. I plan to order from Etsy. I just haven't chosen the quote yet. But I'm obsessed with Disney so....
I love all the ideas here, including putting baby in your room. We have a huge room so baby will take up half the space or so, no decorating needed. BUT we did put in a nap room/toy room off of our living room so i have been decorating that (mil has actually) and also Eloras new room upstairs. The downstairs room off the living room is all eric carle themed (love love love his stuff) and Eloras room is owls. I got a growth chart, valance, and wall border so far for that room. I am thinking maybe my girls will share a room for a while when Emalyn is old enough, in spite of having 3 free.
Super cute decal!!
I'm still working on "de-princessing" my DD's old room which will be this baby's room - we finished our basement last year and DD wanted the one room we put down there which worked out perfectly now that we're having another boy and the boys will be sharing a bathroom and she'll have her own. Anyway, baby will likely NOT be in our room much, if at all, because DH is a light sleeper and between baby noises and middle of the night feedings, he doesn't get any sleep. So likely baby will go straight to his room. I'm hoping to get his room finished by early May so I don't have to deal with it my last month...
My DS' room is pirate themed and DD's room is pink and black with some touches of green. This baby's room is going to be bright green, navy, and baby blue.
I love that decal! SO cute. The grey walls are nice too!
We have no nursery this time. Sad face. Baby will be in with us for now until we figure out WTF to do. LOL. DD is in one room and my 16 year old special needs step daughter is in the other room. Either the two little kids will share a room or we might turn my craft area into a bedroom for DSD. She's only here part time and only sleeps in her room, so it doesn't have to be huge. That would required building a small wall and putting in a door so....who knows!
If baby is a girl then I'll have less problems with them being together but if baby is a boy there will be a point where we'll want them in their own rooms. It doesn't have to be right away but since DSD is never going to 'grow up' and 'leave home' we always need a space for her.
My oldest two share a room, Heather (even share bunk beds) and are super good friends. I'd be fine with boys and girls sharing rooms until they a) start putting up a fight about it! or b) when they are 7-8. As it is, when we move next year, my DD will get her own room and DS1 and DS2 will share a room and the bunk beds. Eventually I guess DS2 and DS3 will share a room since they are closer in age, and DS1 will get his own room like his big sister. Until then.....we cram into small spaces!
Baby will be in the room with us for a while. We are moving to a three bedroom next month but I don't think we will put her in her own room for quite some time. DS still cosleeps most nights and hates his "little bed" (it's a twin) because he "likes sleeping with his whole family".
We own our house and love it, so I doubt we'll move anytime soon. My plan is to hopefully fit DD in her toddler bed and baby in the crib in that room until DD outgrows her toddler bed. Then maybe get a loft bed so the crib or toddler bed can go under it for baby (the room is small). Then maybe bunk beds WAY down the road when they are both older. We'll see though. 3.5 years is a big difference.
We have co-slept on the weekends and it is nearly impossible with 3 people who toss and turn in a queen size. I am the lightest sleeper of the bunch and now that we've given DS the bed in the spare room, I'm on the couch many of those night.
Thank goodness our couch is comfy and big
