OB appointment

I got in to see my OB this morning. She did a very quick ultrasound and measured some things tho my specialist will be more thorough. Lo is now head down and very low. Her head was in the way of the speculum and she could feel it when she checked my cervix which thankfully is still hard. I see my perinotologist Monday at 7:30 am (hour drive mind u). The doc said if my bleeding gets worse or doesn't go away I will be back in Milwaukee and once I'm 23 weeks there is more they an do to stop the bleeding and get her ready just I'm case. Steroids for her lungs, progesterone shots, etc.

I'm glad to hear your cervix is still hard! PHEW! I take it you live a ways away from Milwaukee? Our local hospital got a NICU not long before DD was born...but they can't handle the wee ones. If something were to happen I'd have to go to our large provincial women's hospital which is in Vancouver.

I hope she stays put for a couple more months. Naughty girl! Did you have any problems with DD #1's pregnancy?

I'd be totally freaked out if they could feel the baby's head with a speculum... although, they are quite long.. I hope your LO stays put!! And okay for telling you there's more that they can do when you're 23 weeks... when that's in two days. But hopefully you'll be JUST FINE! *hugs*

Milwaukee is about 67 minutes. How far is Vancouver? Elora started coming at 29 weeks. I was having contractions and leaking amnio fluid. No dilation and the contractions were stopped by the doc. The fluid level was good so she stayed in till 37 weeks after fighting pre e.

OMG, sounds like you just have a bad go of pregnancy. Sad So not fair!!!!

Vancouver is a 1.5 hour ferry ride away...then driving to the hospital would probably be 30-45 mins too. In emergencies they air lift people from here.

:lurk:
Jumping in to answer your questions (I am her oldest sister) since she isn online at the moment.

She had some high blood pressure issues with DD1. She did make it past 37 weeks, though the blood pressure caused some growth restriction weight wise. This little one is measuring bigger than her DD1 though, so that doesnt seem to be an issue.

The nearest NICU that could handle a micro premie is Milwaukee (for her). There are lots of meds that they can give once baby is considered viable to help stop things and give her longer time to cook, and meds to help baby develop a bit faster just in case.

Subsequent babies being low is pretty normal, especially with pregnancies closer together. The fact that her cervix is still firm, closed, etc is a good indication that shes not heading for early labor yet. The baby is looking great, so the bleeding isnt a huge problem at this point. Just gotta keep the baby happy, healthy, and in as long as they can... which could be 40 + weeks Smile

Thx kier. With dd1 I was 37 weeks 2 days.

They will also make sure there's no blood in the amniotic fluid, that's the greatest danger because the clot is no where near the placenta.

I didn't realize y'all were sisters. I've seen Kier post on your threads before but didn't make the connection. Smile

Glad things looked good overall today and hope the bleeding will settle down too. And especially that baby girl stays put for a while longer. I know I can't wait to get to that viable stage but will start to relax much more after I hit 28 wks. I'm sorry this pregnancy is being so difficult on you. I can imagine the bed rest for that long is very tiresome.
