we aren't ready yet. *sigh* need to fill up on water, put yard stuff away and finish laundry today. I hate losing power. I've been out for a week before and it sucked. With the kids I've been out for 48 hours was the longest.
So it looks like it's Jackie, Karen and myself in the affected area? Anyone else?
Patience- I live in northeast New Jersey. About 45 min west of NYC. Where abouts are you?
Leah- that's an impressive story. I hope it was a once in a life time for you too! Good thing you guys had a generator.
Mary- we have most of what we need before disaster strikes. But we did have to do a little bit of preparing here. I had run out of batteries so I bought them, we needed gas for the generator, and we moved all the furniture off the back deck. I always have tons of food stocked up in the house and we have a gas stove so cooking isn't a problem.

Living in an earthquake/tsunami area (and there was a 7.7 quake off the coast up north last night and we were on tsunami advisory!), I do have emergency kits. I have a backpack with all kinds of supplies and food plus water in our coat closet and I also have an identical kit in the trunk of my car if it were to happen when I'm not home. I actually need to go refresh some of the items, this would be a good time I think!

Freaky, right Hilary? We were at a Halloween party last night when we heard about the Tsunami warning. Luckily we were at pretty high land and our house is very high from sea level. Also, I've seen tsunami modeling and most of them don't make it up this far...phew! DH is calling out 'the big one' though. Silly man.
