It could happen! We arent in an earthquake area and we had one when I was in college and another one last year!

Yes, I'm on a pretty major one too. We have quakes daily but I never feel them. I've only ever felt one. We used to do earthquake drills in school and such.

we are closed today and tomorrow... most likely wednesday too. They have changed the storm and are now saying we are going to get it worse than what we orginally were supposed to.

that sucks that it is going to be worse than expected Patience!

We are doing okay, still have power at least for now. We haven't gotten much rain, but we are expected to get a lot more wind than rain. Gusts up to 45mph so far. We're on the northern side of the hurricane where the wind is stronger and rain less. Though it it is raining right now. So flooding is only supposed to be coastal, but wind gusts/sustained wind is supposed to be really high this afternoon. I really am expecting to lose power in the next couple hours.

mind if I lurk over here a little? I did say I would...
we're in the storm area, too. We just had a tree come down. Our driveway is right next to our neighbor's and somehow it fell between the two cars! Anywhere else it would have hit a car or powerline or something. And the peak winds/gusts aren't supposed to come for a few more hours still! Luckily, right now the wind is blowing the only remaining trees away from the house and none of them lean over it or anything. It's getting pretty nasty out there. Our gusts are 50-60mph.
