Ooooh the weight!

What in the world? Between 16 and 20 weeks I put on 6 lbs...yuck. I thought I was doing a bit better with my food choices and smaller portions these last 4 weeks...but I'm up ANOTHER 6 lbs. What? I think what you ladies are saying is right...your body just wants to be where it wants to be. Sad Only 24 lbs left to stay under 200...and 16 weeks left! I'm toast.

At least it's all for a good reason!

Heather, I gained 12 lb in two months too! Last time I didn't gain and this time I am sure I am up. My doctor stays on me about weight too.. I'm short and had per hypertension with DS so I understand. But sometimes you can't help it.. I make better choices too but baby is growing, etc.

I know I need to gain weight...but REALLY? 12 lbs in 8 weeks? GAH! I looked at my numbers and it says I'm up 23 lbs in total in 24 weeks...so I guess that isn't SO bad. The midwife says I should gain what, 25-30 lbs for the WHOLE pregnancy? HA HA HA HA!

I guess I'm lucky to have height on my side...I'm 5'8"...but it's still a tough pill to swallow.

I was just thinking...I lost 25 lbs before I got pg, so I guess I'm just back where I started now. BA HA HA! All that hard work for *nothing*. Ok...a baby is something...but blah.

Maybe I should stop trying...McDonalds here I come! Blum 3

Well, I was up 25 pounds at 20 weeks. Wink I gained about 14 pounds of that in the first tri alone!! Your body will do what it needs to do, and it really will be fine. Thankfully I've been pregnant enough times to know that my body slows down quite a bit in the third tri, and I only gain about 7-8 pounds total for that trimester. Maybe your gain will slow down too. I had a bad stomach virus a few days ago. At least that must have slowed my weight gain down some...

I was up 20 at 24 weeks, probably up another 2 by now. I gained steadily through the 3rd tri with my first, but slowed down with my second so hoping that happens again. My "goal" is to stay under 40 lb gain which I've missed by a few pounds both other times. I do NOT have height on my side (I'm 5'3) so I feel huge but it is what it is. My doc hasn't said a word to me so far, probably because my gains are right on track with my other 2 pregnancies. But man do I wish I was one of those girls who only put on 20 pounds the whole time! Genetics are against me, my poor mom (who is 5'2) put on 95 pounds with me(!!!!). I mean, clearly something was going on there but if she can put on that much weight even though she threw up the ENTIRE pregnancy, I feel good with 40 Wink

I've gained almost 20 lbs now. Between weeks 16-20 I only gained 1 lb, but between 20-24 I gained about 5.

I started out this pregnancy about 8 lbs lighter than I usually am, so right now at 143 lbs, I am feeling like I only gained 8 lbs instead of 16!

At 24 weeks I was up a total of 14 pounds, more than I was hoping for. I am only 5' so 14 pounds on me looks like 25 pounds on a taller person...

With DS I stayed steady my third trimester. My legs actually got enough thinner in the third trimester that I could tell my clothes actually fit better. With DD I didn't slow down the weight. It didn't help that Christmas and Thanksgiving fell in my third trimester, I'm sure! I am hoping this time around in the third, my weight will slow down on account of warmer weather and not being as hungry, I can hope anyway!

I gained almost 60 with DS so Im hoping I just don't do that much. My drs havent said ANYTHING abotu my weight. the neurologist was concerned today (he's worried about the new medicine he's putting me on and wanted to see how much I had gained since my previous visit but couldnt find it in his notes.) but only concerned as in he wanted to see where we started he actually commented on how I HADNT put on that much weight (really?? AWW THANKS! I would say that he was being super nice but then he commented on how incredibly low baby is)
(but the neuro visit is a whole diff post!) Heather you are fine don't worry! (and that should mean alot coming from me Wink )

I realized I've been eating a lot of cake lately and having empty calorie drinks such as juice and pop. I should really ease up on that.

I eat dreadfully. I am a carboholic Smile

With my first two kids I gained over 50 lbs each time. 3rd time I only gained 30-35. Hoping for 35 again this time! Anything is better than 50 lbs, even though I managed to get it off after.

I'm pretty sure I'll be in the 40 club at least. I mean, how can I not be? Baby is growing so much right now. I've been STARVING the last couple days. Sad

I just want to stay under 200 lbs this time....please?

The second tri is notoriously the worst gain one too because we don't feel sick anymore, baby is trying to put on fat, and s/he isn't so big that we don't feel like eating. I bet you stay easily under 200 if you still have 24 lbs to go! Especially since you have a toddler to keep you on your feet your third tri.

FWIW, I've cut my soda intake down to almost nothing and my weight gain has just kept climbing and laughing in my face! :bangheaddesk:

HA HA HA! Ok, perhaps I shouldn't laugh, but it's almost the story of my life! My sweet hubby has been making me virgin pina coladas a lot lately. He uses the 'just add alcohol' mix from the grocery store but doesn't add alcohol. it is SO good but probably not something I should have every day. Also, I had my birthday cake cut into pieces and frozen in my freezer...and ice cream. I'm sure none of that has helped. Blum 3

Virgin Pina Coladas almost sound good if they weren't frozen. I'm too cold for iced drinks. Actually I'm drinking coffee right now - decaf but hot. We're talking about possibly taking a trip to Mexico in April and if that does happen, I will definitely put on some sin alcohol blended beverage weight!!

ANYWAY...between Valentine's and DH's birthday, I have enough bad food to go around too. I've started throwing some away to keep it away from me.

Mexico in April? Aren't you worried about travelling cross border in your 3rd trimester? Eeeeeks!

As long as things continue to run smoothly, I'm not too worried about it. Both of my other two have been induced past my EDD and I haven't progress a bit on my own. That being said, we haven't booked anything yet so I'll be chatting with my OB about his opinion on the matter before anything is set in stone. Mine and baby's health are most important obviously.

ETA: Weren't you supposed to travel to the US in your third tri and then changed it (or something along those lines)? Now you've got my brain running on this. The only thing I was thinking was that I'm not supposed to travel past 36 weeks but didn't consider that going to another country, especially one I do NOT want to have a baby in, might be different.

We're going to the US when I'm 26 weeks for a holiday. There is a work conference in Vegas when I'm 34 weeks but I'm doubting they'll send me. Sad

Well I'm up about 12 from pre-pg, but I lost 5 in the first tri, so I guess that puts me up 17. A little more than last time I think since I only got back up to my pre-pgn at 20 weeks last time. With DD I gained 33 (net 27) so I'm hoping I don't go more than that this time. I also got back to pre-pgn weight in 2 weeks, and then dipped below afterwards. I started this one about 7-8 pounds lighter, and I'd like to go back there. DH thinks I'm on track for the same weight gain as last time. My midwife doesn't even weigh me, last time she just asked me if I'm monitoring my weight. I'll have my next appointment tomorrow, so maybe I'll measure myself on her scale since mine is not very accurate most of the time.

Pass me those genes, please! Wink I lose about half fairly quickly, then another 1/4 slooooowly, then the last 1/4 sticks until I stop BFing (probably because making milk makes me so flipping hungry that I eat more nursing than I do pregnant!).

I didn't gain ANY weight as of my 16 week check up. Nothing fit of course, but the scale never moved. At the 20week appt, in just those 4 short weeks... I gained like 9lbs or something. Enough that he had to tell me to watch what I was eating. I thought I was doing so well and then KABLAAAAM.

I'm still down four pounds. I fill up so fast these days and rarely have an appetite still. I generally don't gain much in pregnancy. It's breast feeding that kills me. "Breast feeding melts pregnancy weight " is the mod absurd thing I've ever heard! Smile my appetite come snack full force and I'm always sitting to nurse. I. Get. Huge. Seriously, I gamed 20 pounds with Lucas!

I lost it all and then some with breastfeeding. Between nursing, working out and eating mostly clean foods - I could eat a ton and still lose/maintain a good weight. I lost my final 6 pounds (to take me lower) when I went off gluten. Didn't do anything but that and lost 6 in 6 weeks. You can satiate your appetite, but if you do it with really good foods then the breast feeding just allows you to eat a lot of it Smile

I hear what you're saying...in the second tri there is rapid growth on baby's side too...which makes you so much more hungry and weigh more. If you're only up 9 lbs the WHOLE pregnancy...then you're still in great shape. Just make sure you make healthy choices...but still EAT lots. (It's easier for me to say than do...hello hamburger!)

I don't think breastfeeding really helped me lose ANY weight...and I breastfed for over a year! That said, my daughter is tiny (16 lbs at 1 year) and was always a snacker...not a marathon nurser. I got AF back at 3 months pp and I was exclusively BFing. What a joke! Sad

I have gained about 20 lbs so far which is a lot, I think. With DD I gained about 40 and it took me forever to loose it. Though I did lose the first 30 very quickly with BF. with DS I gained about 30 and lost all of it very quickly. I was back in reg jeans with in 4 weeks PP. both totally different pregnancies. I hope this one will be more like the DS but its looking doubtful!

No way! That is lame. That was the one good benefit of BFing for me, even if I had to keep an extra 5 lbs on at least I didn't have to deal with AF!

Mine came off way faster with my 2nd too. It probably made a difference that I was much more active during my pregnancy with him so maybe my metabolism hung in there or something, but crossing my fingers that happens again.

I had the exact same thing. Exclusively BF, no pacis, on demand etc. And AF came back at 4.5 months. I was soooo angry since I was looking forward to like 15 months.

Yeah AF came back within 9 months, tops, both times. With DS, I had to cut out dairy while BF'ing, I lost weight like crazy when I did that. I weighed less than I did before we got married, people actually thought that I was deathly sick, or something! With DD I couldn't tell that BF'ing helped me lose any kind of weight.

I'm up about 7 pounds. I think I've averaged 30/35 pounds gained for my other two. I do eat A LOT more while breastfeeding. The hard part is weaning yourself off of all of the food when LO is weaning!

I'm curious to see what everyone eats during the day. Anyone interested in a Day In the Life of food. Like what you eat for breakfast, lunch, etc...

I eat really poorly. LOL. Everyone would notice the lack of fruits and vegetables right away. I'm so bad. I just don't 'feel' like them!

That could be fun!! Smile

I definitely eat a ton while breastfeeding, but it's never got in the way of my weight loss, thankfully. I wonder what it will be like when I'm no longer breastfeeding or pregnant?!?! I've been doing both for 9 years now!! I guess I'll have to eat like a "normal" person, lol.
