A friend just posted this for me on another group. It really helped me when I was disappointed after my appt.
The Pre-labor Cervix is not a Magic 8 Ball
With baby #1, I was not dilated prior to my water breaking. So, no, it doesn't really mean a whole lot.
Great article, and so true.
My cervix is always quite posterior, and doesn't even go anterior until I'm actually close to giving birth. It can happen fast!
You ladies are making me feel better. *hugs*
At my last check up with Lucas I was "barely a one" and not looking terribly favorable and my water broke the next day. You really just never know. This time I'm contracting and dilating early and slowly but I'm starting to think fast and furious was better because this is really annoying!
That's what I've been saying all along!!!! Just let your body do it's thing. I never got checked this time before labor, so I have no idea where I was at or not at. And with DD the only reason I got checked at my 39 week appt was because I had never had a vaginal exam before, and didn't want to be shocked by it when I was in labor.
Technically I wasn't getting checked...I was going to get a sweep...but I got nothing. LOL.
