Have any of you gone for 3D/4D ultrasounds? I was thinking it might be fun to do since this is likely my last pregnancy. How did you like it? Was it worth the money? Do you want to share pictures or videos with us (you can PM me if you'd rather)? Have you gone and NOT seen the gender? (we want to stay team green)
I was thinking of doing it since my u/s yesterday was so emotional. I wasn't really able to enjoy myself. I checked prices and it's MUCH cheaper if I get it done in the USA when we're there in March. I'll be 26 weeks at the time. The most expensive package they offer in Myrtle Beach is $125 and the most expensive package here is $229! Believe me, the services you get are comparable.
Is one company better than another? The one I was looking at is called Prenatal Peek. Thoughts?
we have a place here called the stork connection and prices seem good. i've never done it but here is the facebook link
I've never done a private one, but my OB has a nice u/s machine so I'll have pics tomorrow hopefully (and video but honestly I'll probably never get around to uploading it since they give it to us on a DVD). You couldn't really tell gender on the 3d/4d image with either of my other two, but we were trying to get face shots, not crotch ones. I have pics from my other two kids in their spaces (which are linked in my June space). They are cool, but I've heard they are more fun when you are further along (like late 20's/early 30's) but DH can't justify why we'd pay money to see the baby when we'll see him/her a few months later so we've never paid for a private one later and my doc doesn't do u/s after the 20 week one unless there is a medical reason to.
I had a 3D with my DS, but it was in a doctors office, not a private place. Where I live, I would have to drive several hours to even go to a private U/S facility. All OB's that I know in my area offer the 3D. Some of them include it in their care. Mine on the other hand offers it as an extra that you have to pay for. I am not quite sure of the prices my doctors office charges. You can definitely find out gender but I'm sure that if you ask them they probably won't even look down there. It is definitely a neat experience. With DS I was about 35 weeks, so he was all filled and lookin cute. My SIL had one done at about 21 weeks and baby is a lot scrawnier looking so early. This time around I may be able to get another free one or two 3D's so we will wait and see before we decide to pay for one. I don't mind sharing pics from DS if you want to see them.
I was just doing some research on what you might see at 26 weeks. I found this site with lots of sample photos. 26 weeks looks like an ok time. The babies seem to look like babies!
Scroll down and have a look at the gender pics on this page. I totally laughed so hard at them!!!!

I've heard that 26-30 weeks is ideal. Baby is bigger but not so big that its hard to get a good view. My OB will do it in office as an extra thing for $100. But I wanted to do it while I'm hone with my family and that means going private and paying a lot more than $100. I haven't decided for sure yet.
