How devastated (or not) are you about the closing of Hostess? If you have one, what's your favorite Hostess product?
I'm not a sweet eater, and I especially don't eat sweets out of a box (sorry!). But my dad and grandad worked for them when I was younger, so that does make me a little sad. I'm sure that some company will buy the rights and we will see plenty of twinkles and ding dong in the future!
Personally, I think it's a shame such a long standing company is going under, but otherwise I'm pretty much over it. I maybe eat a Twinkie or Apple Fruit Pie once a year like on a road trip (you know, when we stop at an understocked gas station) so I doubt my life will be heavily affected by their absence.
PS If you want a good laugh, go look at what people are trying to get for a box of Twinkies on Ebay. I saw one for $55. Seriously people.

I was thinking the same thing. If not, I'm sure another company will come out with identical products as soon as they're legally able to do so.
Apparently the company that produces Twinkies in Canada is doing just fine. So I'm not devastated at all
LOL. I can't remember the last time I had a Twinkie.
I don't really care. I never buy or eat them.
my favorite were the little chocolate doughnuts. not a big deal to me that they went under but my husband tried to go get some twinkies and no luck. hes a bit sad. said zingers just arn't the same.
We will miss the Wonderbread the most.
They've been bankrupt 4 or 5 times and this time there was no one to buy them out. Little Debbie makes "Cloud cakes" which are apparently the same. I work in a grocery store as a receiver and I had a crap ton of people asking for Twinkies today. It was insane. Like people are just going to save them. I think Twinkies went to crap anyway.. I DO like Wonder Bread, however. My sales rep said that they found out Friday morning - they delivered what they had on the trucks and that was it. Closed. No warning what so ever. It's sad, all those people losing their jobs.
Sad for the loss of jobs, but I don't care about twinkles.
Sad for the job loss, but frankly annoyed over it being the biggest news ever when the other biggest news ever is the obesity issues we face over eating, to be direct, stuff like twinkies! Good riddance.
I'm not anti-junk food in any way. I believe it's not Twinkies making people fat, it's people eating a whole box of Twinkies in one sitting. A little self control and moderation and a Twinkie now and then is far from evil or the root of obesity. That said, it makes me sad to see them close. I haven't had a darn Twinkie since college because it really never crossed my mind and now it's all I can think about. I would pretty much fight someone for one just because I know I can't have one.
I will miss the chocolate donuts... they were DS's fav... and the fruit pies. BUT I am sure another company will buy the patents and we wil still be able to get them. It is sad for the loss of jobs. I looked on ebay last night and saw a single box of twinkies for 455$ and it had 30-some bidders! People are crazy!
I'm not a big hostess fan in general, but I do remember my grandma buying their doughnuts
Are they already gone from the stores? Someone here said they weren't bankrupt in Canada. Perhaps I can ship you some?
We are not much of sweet eaters in out house. However, I think it's terrible that so many thousands have lost their jobs! I had hear that Pabst Blue Ribbon is going to buy them out. Rumor maybe?
not that much of a sweet eater so im not really worried about never like Twinkies
A mexican company is might buy the recipes and name.
