I took sign language in High School and found it fascinating. I ended up taking two years of it (which is all we could take).. The only thing I remember now? How to sign the song my Savage Garden, "Truly, Madly, Deeply". I practiced that song for WEEKS so it's like..ingrained in me now.
I got a B.A in English, emphasis in Creative Writing with a minor in Film and Video Studies. Then I went back and got a Masters Degree in English.
....and I work in retail. Totally not using my degree at all.
I went to technical training for phlebotomy, which was really just a nine week course teaching us how its pretty impossible to screw up drawing blood. I got into some colleges but took a break year to save up money for tuition, got pregnant and then didn't go to school. I still plan on going back. But I have no idea what I want to study, or what I really want to do with my life. May just go in for social work but eh. I change my mind every time I think of it.
I started out as pre-med, but my relationship with DH sort of got in the way of that (LOL) and I decided I didn't want to be in school for the next 10 years. So I ended up getting a B.S. in Human Development (specifically studied early childhood development) and got a minor in Business. My minor almost killed me, I hated those classes. DH has a B.S. in Business Management so he'd talked me into it.
I'd say odds are good I'll go back when my kids are bigger either to get a Master's or another degree entirely. Still haven't decided what I want to do "when I grow up"
First I got a certificate in Office Administration and was a secretary for 6 years. Then I went back to Uni and got my Bachelor of Science in Computing Science. Now I program software. Fun, right? DH and I met in the computer science program. Geeks unite!
I went to college and majored with a BS in Psychology, and a concentration in Elementary Education. My college did not offer education as a major (though course load was equivalent) so I basically double majored and didn't get the credit for it...I since took some more tests and am Pk-1 and 1-middle in my state (or something like that), and in the neighboring state I am certified K-6 reg ed and k-12 spec ed. (I also let my certification in a 3rd state expire.... hence why I can't keep up with which I have where!) I need to go back. My license is up in 2 years and I have 2 required classes and 6 credits needed to not lose my certificate....... My mother insists I do it now before baby is here. Really? I had blood pressure problems and she wants me to take 2 college classes, teach full time, have a 3 yr old AND get a house baby ready all at once???? !
I have a bachelors of science in civil engineering...also got a minor in math just b/c I only had to take 1 extra class beyond what was required for my major. I'd love to make a career change at some point but haven't begun to figure out what or how yet. One day...
