Are you the kind of person who has a specific laundry day where you knock out a thousand loads or do you just throw in a load here or there as needed?

I LIKE to do all of mine in one day, but my DS is at an age where putting laundry away with him awake is a nightmare because he wants me to hold him  so lately I've been doing a load about every other day while they nap. I'm definitely behind (hoping to catch up today while DH is home!).

Well, no choice in the matter here. No washer and drier at home, so it's off to the laundromat once a week! With the double and triple load machines, it's easy to get it done quickly. If I did have a washer and drier at home I would definitely do one load a day. There would be way too much piling up to do it once a week.

I used to do it all in one day, but with two kids I can't do it anymore! I have certain days that I do certain loads.
Monday-towels
Tuesday-sheets, delicates, misc.
Wednesday-darks
Thursday-brights
Friday-whites
Saturday-jeans
Sunday- off, I I have kept up during the week!

Once baby comes I will have to fit diapers in there as needed.

Leah - you're ambitious to separate so well! I'm lucky if I get my lights and darks separated these days!

Laundry is always in a sad state around here. I try to do a load here and there as needed every day, but usually that results in major procrastination and a whole blasted day of 8 loads. And then I have a huge laundry pile. And it doesn't always get folded. And then I have no idea what's clean and what's dirty.

I just throw a load in as I see fit. I trained DH early on to do his own and he also does DSD's too! So I do mine and DD's whenever I think of it. Because I work from home (and in the basement where the washer and dryer are) it's easier to do them during the week. Last summer DH put up a clothes line so in the summer I often start a load first thing in the morning then hang it out for the day.

I don't find laundry a big deal (even when I was washing diapers too)...I don't feel the need to dedicate a whole day to it. When i see DD's basket looking like a load, I wash it.

Wow. I don't think my husband has time to do his own laundry! Good for your DH! (And nice job training him!)

The hardest part of laundry for me is folding it and putting it away. Today my goal is to get all this weeks laundry put away that is piled up on the couch!

Oh, and we do NOT fold laundry in our house!! No way am I messing around with that. We hang up a few things that need to be, and iron here and there as needed, but that's it. Putting laundry away is super easy because each of the kids have their own bin! I dump their clothes out on their bedroom floor and they all grab their stuff and put it in their own bin.

Here they are all lined up in their closet. On the opposite side they have a jammy bin, a couple laundry bins, and an underwear and sock bin.

Each bin easily holds the amount of clothes that 3-4 dresser drawers would typically hold.

With the three of us, I try to get to the laundromat once every two weeks and use the GIANT 6 load washers because it is wayyy cheaper than a bunch of single loaders and takes way less time. If I am feeling like punishing myself, I go to my dads and just do a load that will last about four days or so (but I dislike going there, so it doesn't happen much.)

I always wished laundry folded itself and hopped into the appropriate drawers... Sigh.

ROFL  ROFL EVERY DAY is laudry day at my house! I CD so every 2 days I have to wash diapers, I have 3 kids so that usually requires 2 days a week, and then there's my husband and I which is usually another 2 days of the week Smile

I do laundry every time I think the basket in full. So usually 2-3 times a week. But I don't always fold it right away. Sometimes it can sit in the dryer for a couple of days. Doing laundry isn't the hard part. It's folding it and putting it away with two toddlers at your feet constantly!! Smile
