When do you typically get your shower in? Morning, night, while other kids nap?

I need time to do my hair after I shower (which takes about an hour to blowdry and flat iron) so I have to do it sometime I have ample time for that. Either morning (around 8-9 am, and DD watches DS2 while I'm in there) or after the kids go to bed. I prefer not to do at night though because I hate staying up late for the sole purpose of doing my hair. Of course, having it take up my whole morning sucks too! I only shower twice a week though.

I usually shower in the morning before my kids get up (that's often when I "normally" work out too although that hasn't happened for over a month now), but if I don't manage to do it then, I can while they watch their morning show or during naps later.

ETA: Sandra, I feel your pain. I have atrociously thick hair that takes forever to dry. I have it shorter right now so it isn't as bad (maybe 25 minutes) but when it's long it takes FOREVER!!

I have really really really curly hair so I have to shower before I leave the house or my hair is huge! Never at night because it'll be huge and poofy in the morning. Sometimes late afternoon if I don't need to leave the house before dinner time.

Yep, super thick hair that needs a good 25 minute blowdry. Then flat ironing in at least 6 layers so that it isn't too poofy. But at least all that work lasts me 3-4 days!

We have a tub right next to our shower with clear panes, so I shower while DS is in the bathtub. I am right next to him and talk to him the whole time and can see him perfectly. (Not sure what I am going to do when DD comes though)

I chopped a lot of my hair off on Friday, so just figuring out the new routine, but so far it looks like I can air dry it or blow dry it. When it was long, I rarely took the time to do much. WOuld tie it up in a bun and let my waves dry that way.

It's so humid in the summer her that it is hard to keep a 'style' without a ton of work.

I wash my hair every 3 days, but will shower off more frequently.

Yeah, I guess I shouldn't say "shower twice a week" or you will all think I'm dirty Smile I do shower off my body a couple extra times if needed, but I only get my hair wet twice a week.

lol! I'm sure you are far from stinky. Wink

I learned from a hairdresser a long time about that it wasn't good for me to wash my hair constantly because it depleted the natural oils or something.

When ever I feel like (at least until baby comes.) DS is pretty self sufficient and can entertain himself if DH isn't home. Usually in the afternoon though.

I have curly hair so its so much easier to jump in the shower and wash my hair in the morning before work.

Me too. My MIL has super thick hair too and washes her EVERY DAY! I don't know how her hair doesn't get so brittle that it breaks apart because mine would. I only wash mine about every 3 days.

Right now, while I'm still working, it is in the morning before the kiddos wake up. I wash my hair daily b/c even in my mid thirties I still have major greasy hair by 24 hours post washing.

I have thick hair too and when I go to bed with wet hair it's still damp in the morning!

Noelle: Apparently people wash their hair WAY more often than they need to. Our hair need the natural oils our head makes. Biggrin

As for me, I normally do my hair in the evenings. Before getting hugely pregnant DD and we would have a swim/bath in our big soaker tub and I'd wash my hair after DH took her out of the tub. I stopped that after she head-butted my tummy a couple months ago. Sad Now I'll sometimes bath during the day while she's at daycare (and I'm at work Wink *wink*) or in the evening after she's in bed. Washing my hair in the tub is getting to be a bit strenuous but I love lounging and reading in there.

Once baby comes....who knows??!?!?!

I normally let my hair dry on it's own and then sometimes I use the straight iron on it, time dependent.

Sandra - could you wash your hair at night, let it dry on it's own overnight (a braid works well) and then just flat iron it in the morning? I don't like blowdrying, so I try to let it air dry before straightening it.

I cut off about 12 inches 3 months ago, so it's much faster to do my hair now (also SUPER thick hair and takes forever to dry, if I leave it in a bun like I did when it was long, it could be wet for more than 24 hours). I'm super lazy though and still just put it in a pony tail most of the time, even though now I can straighten it (if dry) in about 10-15 minutes.

Also - my hair can go a week without washing it easy. I usually like how it looks best not on the day I've showered.

Lynn - you have to train your hair to be able to not get greasy as fast. The more you wash it, the faster it will get greasy. But it would mean withstanding greasy time, which I can imagine would be no fun! My roommate in college was like that, 24 hours and it was done.

As for the actual question - it's all over the place. If I take DD swimming, it's then. Sometimes a quick rinse in the morning. Other times at night after a day at the beach/park. Sometimes I just do it with DD. She loves getting to wash mommy.

I can't remember the last time I let my hair dry naturally! It holds kinks like crazy so if I braided it, I'd never straighten it to my liking the next morning. I hate to blowdry everytime I do my hair, but at least it's only twice a week!

Right, but if you're going to straighten it anyways, why blow dry it too? It's like double the heat damage.
