What kind of milk do you buy (2%, skin, soy, etc) ad how much per week?

We buy the 3 half gallons from Costco, usually every week/week and a half. It's 1% and organic.

Full fat coconut milk. Also Organic half n half (from Costco - gotta love Costco). No one in our family "drinks milk" (Other than I nurse my kiddos for a long time). I use the coconut milk and half n half in baking. We do go through a 1/2 gallon of half n half a week though (using it in coffee and in baking). Oh, and we use heavy whipping cream somewhat regularly too. I guess "regular" milk just doesn't have enough fat in it for me. Wink

My kids drink about a gallon and a half of 2% each week and DH uses half a gallon of skim for protein shakes.

I've never had coconut milk, does it have a strong flavor? I like soy and almond okay but really don't drink milk myself and only use it for cooking.

We buy 2% for DD and skim for DSD, DH and I. DH and I don't really drink milk but the kids do. We don't yet buy milk on a set schedule, just when we get low. Now that DD will be home more we'll likely go through it faster.

We usually buy 1%. I buy the gallon jugs, and we usually use 1.5-2 jugs per week, so sometimes nearly 2 gallons a week. I love milk with my supper every day, and the kids have milk with supper as well. I am trying to cut down the amount of juice the kids drink so I will offer milk or water instead, and they often choose milk. My DH doesn't drink milk, except he will sometimes have some chocolate milk after exercising.

Coconut milk is not "super strong" but it doesn't taste like cow's milk either. I actually don't like "coconut" (as in the flakes), but I cook all the time with coconut milk and coconut flour. I also use coconut oil in baking. That is definitely much stronger than the milk is. I find that I can usually replace half the butter in a recipe with coconut oil, but if I replace all of it, the coconut flavor is too strong. If a recipe calls for milk I can sub in pretty much 100% with coconut milk and it's pretty good. SOmetimes I'll do half coconut milk and half half n half though depending on what it is though. I don't just drink the stuff though... we all drink water here, and the occasional Gatorade as a treat in the summer. Oh, coconut milk is GREAT for things like pancakes!

Whole milk for DH's coffee (I just went off dairy again since M was born). One litre lasts a couple of weeks. And chocolate almond milk for drinking. Straight from the container. It doesn't taste as good from a cup Smile We can go through 2-3 litres in a week.

We use hemp milk for baking/quiches, since I just discovered I mildly react to coconut and coconut flour. I do use coconut milk sometimes - it makes a great whip cream (the canned kind) and I made a yummy mushroom sauce with it once. We have coconut flakes, so if I really need coconut milk, I just blend those with water and can make it that way.

Laurie have you tried banana tapioca crepes? They are supremely delicious. It's interesting because I don't really like the taste of coconut, but I find that I can fully replace coconut oil and have it taste fine in baking, but coconut flour makes it too strong for me (probably since I react to it a bit).

Hummm, interesting that the coconut flour is too strong, but the oil is fine. It's the opposite for me. My favorite recipes actually tend to be half coconut flour and half tapioca flour. The banana tapioca crepes sound awesome to me!! Unfortunately I have one dd that gags if she even smells a banana. I might still have to try them though. The rest of us still like em though.

We go through 2 gallons of whole milk a week. DS has to drink quite a bit so he doesn't get constipated and he loves milk so he is our main milk chugger. I probably drink the least out of everybody.

When I buy milk it is 2%. As for how often, last Thursday we were out of milk and I bought a half gallon. I didn't even open it until yesterday! I don't drink milk, never have. DD loves it, but it makes her break out. DS drinks it sometimes. DH likes to drink it, but doesn't want the fat and he hates skim. I mainly just use it for cooking.
