sad news (loss mentioned) (*not me)

So I think I have posted before about my coworker who's sil is due aroudn the same time we are. and her water broke a couple weeks ago (I think it was 5?) she was doing well and the fluid had built back up. apparently she went into labor yesterday and had the baby. baby was 3lbs and they were hopeful as he appeared to be doing well. Then overnight something happened with his heart and they think he had a heart attack and didn't make it. SO my morning started off with my coworker (also preg and due same time as I am) storming across the parking lot shoving a onesie at me saying "TAKE IT!" I was confused and realized she was fighting tears. then she told me her sil had the baby and he didnt make it. my heart breaks for both of them. she was a first time mom and my coworker was goign to be a first time aunt (from my understanding) my coworker's daughter was so excited looking at the pictures last night of her new cousin... and now she has to be told he's gone. she's 4. how do you tell a 4 yr old that? My heart also breaks for my coworker because she has spent this preg sharing everything with the sil. and now the sil is going to have a constant reminder of the child she lost bc she was due within 3 days of my coworker. My coworker wants to be there for her and at the same time can't bc she won't see her (which is understandable. she's workign into the angry phase right now) and she doesnt know when she's goign to. I tried to convince her to get a sub and go home, but she said she needed to be at work because she'd jsut wallow at home. SO not a good way to start off a day.

Wow, that's so very tragic. Sad I hope they can get some answers as to what went wrong. Poor family!

I can't believe she walked up to you and shoved a onesie at me saying "TAKE IT!". Wow, I know she's upset but it's not your fault...

She wasn't upset with me. She had bought matching onesies for her and her sil... thing one and thing 2. I think she just needed it gone. I immediately shoved it in my coat pocket and hugged her. I havent even looked at it to see if its 1 or 2 (I know she was goign to give her sil 1 becasue they knew her's would be here first) I plan on holding on to it and if she wants it back in a few weeks it'll be all hers. They havnet been able to find anything wrong.. we think it was just one of those freak things. Sad

Oh that's so sad, what a tough situation for that whole family. Sad So sweet of you to be understanding and supportive of her. I'll be thinking of them and prayers for support through this time and healing long term.

AHhh ok, that makes more sense then. Sounds like she really should have taken the day off though. Yikes. Sad

That's definitely a terrible thing. Sounds like she definitely needs to take a little time off to heal with her family. So sad.

That is so heartbreaking.

Good for you with your composure and compassion. I can't imagine the pain they are all going through right now and the pain that will happen over the years. I wish them all strength and love through this .

When my SIL was born a similar situation happened with a friend of my MIL who was due at the same time. Her baby was still born within a day of my SIL being born. Because of the reminder, my MIL thinks that is why they understandably drifted as friends.
