    Default Screening / test?

    Hi Ladies:

What screening / tests are you planning to have performed? I'm not sure yet, since I'm almost 40, I will have a deep discussion about this with my Doctor at my first appointment.

    Thanks!

Nothing other than the ~20 week scan for me unless we have reason to others. Oh and I guess blood glucose because I was borderline with my first plus I don't think my OB really let's us opt out of it.

I have a step daughter with a genetic deletion. She is 15 but mentally she's 1.5 years old. For that reason we are having a CVS at 10 weeks. We had one with our daughter and everything was fine so I'm hoping for the same results this time. Obviously this is a very controversial topic and a lot of people have strong views on genetic testing. I'm already feeling a bit outcast because of our choice, but I have to do what's right for our family. Sigh. I wish life were simpler.

I will be having my iron checked (I was anemic both times before), and I will have the glucose test, I was on the high end of normal last time. And ultrasounds of course! But barring any reason to, I will not be having any others tests done.

Being a special education teacher I am choosing not to have any testing besides blood, ultrasounds, and urine. I believe that everyone has a reason for testing and don't judge anyone for making any decision. I fully support the decision any woman makes in their pregnancies.

I will have my iron checked because I may still be anemic to start this pregnancy, which isn't great. Hoping to get an early ultrasound just to make sure things look good in there, and then of course the 20 week u/s. we won't do any genetic testing. I may decline the glucose testing because I was fine last time. And if I go overdue again I will consent to NST's again, and if I go REALLY overdue again I will consent to another ultrasound.

I'll have an early u/s and the 20 week u/s and a glucose test. I think they are going to want to do the 24 hour test urine, but I might decline that - never had any issues whatsoever so they are going to have to explain something more than I'm overweight for me to agree to it this time! I don't do any genetic testing - no history and I would never terminate and I rather not know ahead of time! I have no issues with anyone getting it done, just not my decision!

I will just be having a scan and normal testing, unless the scan shows we need more testing. I don't disagree with testing, just don't have a reason to, our families our relatively healthy, and I am still pretty young. I would totally get something done if needed though.

This thread makes me so sad. It's already such a hard decision for me...but now I feel even worse about it all. Sigh.

don't feel bad because most of us aren't doing the testing Heather! If we were in your position I'd bet the majority would get tested! I feel badly that you have to go through all the worry though. HUGS!
