Im so nervous, my manager is insisting that i tell him myself rather than her. Im really not comfortable. he can be a total jerk about it or he might just congratulate me and move on. I have no idea what kind of reaction Im going to get. I was thinking of showing him the ultrasound pic and saying i wanted to share this with you before I tell everyone else. Im hoping it goes smoothly and there isnt any issues

it went well, i showed him the ultrasound and told him i wanted to share something with him and he looked at it and said congratulations and made a joke about is he seeing 2 babies in there.. He asked me how long i was taking off of work and if i was planning on working until the end like I did with DS. so i feel relieved its out and i no longer have to wear clothes that try to hide it
Good luck. I am sure it will go over fine.

UGH! I feel for you! I hate telling my boss anything like that! Around here it means they need to find a new temp employee for a whole year! Oops. My last mat leave they didn't find anyone new, the other programmers just had to work harder. :P
I hope it goes well. I'm glad I'm not in your shoes.Personally, I'd rather tell people by email. I hate face-to-face. I'm glad my boss is thousands of miles away...I will tell him by email.
I'd love to just send a email but we all work in the office together so it probably wouldnt go very well if I did it that way, my manager has been here for 30 years and she stressed out that she thinks its best if it comes from me, I wasnt going to tell him until after the holidays because i really worry that he is just going to suggest getting rid of me for good
friends and family i dont care but he can be an *** and sometimes just out right rude so i wasnt sure how he was going to react. i really dont think im his favorite and to be honest he walks by my desk every morning and doesnt even say good morning... i feel so much better and now i can wear any shirt i want and not have to worry about it making me look pregnant
I'm so glad it went well and YAY for being able to wear clothes that don't hide it. I'm SO tired of THAT! It sounds like he is one of those people who deflects awkward situations by making jokes. Still funny about the twins though. :P
Around here it's illegal to fire or 'let go' a pregnant woman. Is it not there? We have pretty strict discrimination laws around here.
A woman who DH knows worked at a local pub within days of telling her employer she was pregnant she was terminated from her job. She sued and got $10,000 in court settlement because of it. TOTAL no no. You're way better off telling your employer you're pregnant because you're pretty safe from being fired for your entire pregnancy and your 1 year maternity leave. Crazy, right?
