Today's appt.

was just as cruddy as Mondays! Saw the dr I don't like. bc the one that I wanted to see was out. So blood pressure was still up assuming Im measuring small still bc she didnt say what it was but told me she's scheduling me for an ultrasound on Monday to check growth and fluid. (and i was measuring smaller this past Monday) so despite saying that they are going to talk at 39 weeks bc they didnt want me to go much past that and saying my blood pressure is borderline they certainly aren't doing anythign about it. They also aren't concerned about the fact that I can hardly walk and at times almost fall bc the nerve gets pinched afer I have started walking....... (I also get a sharp pain like I ahve to pee (but im pretty sure he's on my cervix) everytime he wiggles.) so unless the contractions get worse or my blood pressure goes haywire this weekend and I have vision/severe headache dizzy problems it looks like we will just keep waiting til next week. Def going to have to lay around on the couch bc Im so afraid my leg is going to give out when walkng! different dr on Monday......

Ugh, my guess is that you are measuring small because baby is so far down in your pelvis. Good that they will check it out though. Also nice that you have another appointment on Monday - usually they just keep them weekly at this point. So, I guess just relax (as much as you can at this point) and enjoy the fact that you don't have school anymore!! Smile Sorry you didn't get the doc you wanted. That has to be super frustrating!!

If you are having vision problems, that is really no good, did the test your urine?

I am not having the vision problems right now... it was on her go immediately if list..... I measured small on Monday as well--and I had lost weight thurs to monday, AND monday to today. . this is my 3rd (?) week going 2 times. I went once a week for 1 week and they've been having me come 2 times bc of blood pressure.

Unfortunately a little discomfort is going to happen this late in the game. I'm having the weak leg issue too... and pain when baby wiggles. Just try to take it easy! You're done school now! Relax while you can. :). Baby will be here soon enough. Smile

Sorry you had to see the dr you don't care for again. I had serious nerve issues with my 2nd where I literally would go to my knees the last 2 weeks on occasion because of that lightening shock pain. Taking it easy is about all you can do unfortunately. Hope things get moving for you soon!

the worst thing is we are way beyond discomfort... and even just resting on the couch when he wiggles its shooting pain rather than just uncomfortable.
Sad is it normal to have an ultrasound this late to check growth/fluid? That has me worried but I also am assuming that if they had been too concerned that they would have done the ultrasound today?

Perhaps try a different position if the one you're sitting in doesn't feel great...or another chair. Honestly, you're 39 weeks pregnant. It's pretty unrealistic to think you'd be pain free. Sorry.

I've heard late ultrasounds are very unreliable at estimating size. I'm not expert though.

I'm only 37 weeks and have to walk hunched over because if I stand straight up the pain is unbearable. It sucks. I feel like end of pregnancy discomfort has been worse with each kid. I seriously have to lay in bed with 15 pillows for three hours for every one hour I'm up and moving. I totally feel your pain.

Have you been to the chiro at all? It gives me at least temporary relief from the pressure.it doesn't last but if at least gives me a break.

:lurk:
not easy to do at this point but would a hand and knees position feel better for you? I think I feel lucky that I never got to that point, the only pain I had was from little feet kicking my gallbladder.

Late u/s are notoriously bad for checking weight of baby unless baby is really small, they were 2oz off of my 36 weeker but I know for a lot of my friends they were pounds off.

Hope baby comes soon for you.

Late u/s can be very off!!! Mine with Lucas at 38.5 pegged him at 6 pounds or less. He was born three days later at 8.5 pounds!

Exactly! The whole 'sizing' thing at this point seems silly. Ugh.

She said it was going to check to see his growth (I guess to see that he is still growing? ) and to check the amount of fluid. so Im guessing its more for the fluid?

I had ultrasounds at 34 weeks with my 3rd and 4th dd's because I was measuring 5 weeks behind! They turned out to be measuring "right on" and their fluid was fine. They were just REALLY far down in my pelvis. Funny thing is that they were both 7 and half pounds at 39 weeks. My next two babies were MUCH smaller and measured more "normal" during the pregnancy (only 2-3 weeks behind). I think with the ultrasound there is definitely a big range of what is normal. Another thing they check for is that all parts are growing "equally." So, for example, if the baby was measuring well in all areas, but the stomach was significantly smaller that could signal a potential problem - things like that. Fluid is also something that can go down as the pregnancy progresses, so they definitely want to be sure there is still an adequate amount. I know for myself I absolutely wanted to be sure the fluid levels were good. In your case, it might almost be nice if they were "just low enough" to induce you!

Isn't your fluid level directly proportional to your water intake?

Nope! I'm not really sure how it all works, but a "little" perhaps, but there are plenty of women out there who have been told there fluid is borderline low, then drink gallons of water, and it doesn't do a thing! For some women it does seem to help a little to drink more water though... I do remember reading up on it when I was worried about it (with my 3rd dd I think). It's been awhile though.

i had a u/s with DD the day before i was induced to check on baby -i'm not sure if it was routine or not- but i had some major swelling in the legs (bld pressure was fine) and i ended up with low fluid, so at 38wks, they took her. She was also measuring 2wks ahead and was suppose to be about 8-8.5lbs...she was 9lbs10oz..... my guess is they probably just want to be sure baby is fine in there.....

To me 'low fluid' is such a grey area. Perhaps that's normal fluid for you or your baby? Sometimes I think they're just looking for an excuse to induce you so you can fit into their time schedule. No one likes a woman going into labour at bed time or when you're heading out for dinner with your wife. Sad
