Travel - For Heather

Different modes of travel have different rules. In March you shouldn't have any issues, and you don't really need an okay from your midwife, unless you want it of course.

All airlines allow you to fly up until 35-36 weeks. And then the individual airlines make their own. Some don't allow after 36, some allow between 36-38 with a medical note within 24 hours of flying. Pretty much no one allows after 38. And I wouldn't want to be stuck in another country giving birth anyways.

We have a wedding at 37 weeks, and before getting pgn, I checked to make sure I could still fly. I can, but we're now thinking of driving because getting the medical note on either end is going to be a pain in the butt. It will be a bit longer trip, but will save us a few hassles including renting a car and medical notes and some money etc.

This current trip is a flight on Alaska Airlines from USA to USA. We're driving over the Canada-US border. I'll be 26 weeks at the time so all should be good. I checked my extended health insurance and it covers me until I'm 35 weeks pregnant.

My NEXT issue is that our company has it's annual conference in Vegas when I'm 34 weeks. Well, depending on the dates you go by I'll turn 35 weeks on the last day of conference or 2 days after. U/S date puts me 35 weeks 2 days after conference ends. The day I turn 35 weeks is the day my health coverage will end!!!! I'm not sure my employer will send me or not...but if so, I need to GET OUT of the country asap after the conference. LOL. How much does a preemie birth cost in the USA? LMAO!

More than free, lol. Thousands to hundreds of thousands depending on the level of care needed! Hopefully it is quite boring at 35 weeks for you.

I understand why that would be stressful, but odds are if things are going well at 34 weeks, you'll be fine :) My OB says no travel over 2 hours away the last 4 weeks, buuuuut DH has a race about 4 hours away when I'll be 37 weeks. It'll be a last minute decision if I go or not, but based on my past two kids, I'll be lucky to go into labor on my own past my due date, let alone before!

Sounds like a calculated risk Ashley and you'll probably be fine! I mean, this isn't your first kid! LOL.

I'll have to play the conference by ear and see. I really don't want to miss it but we'll see. This will be our 4th trip to Vegas but the last 2 we had DD with us. This time we're hoping to go alone! Eeeeek!
