UGH.

(TMI, sorry)

Feeling uber constipated around here. I keep getting the urge to go, but only a little bit comes out. It must be really compacted in there. It's been at least 4 days since I really cleared out and that's a LONG time for me. This is one side effect of pregnancy that I've really never dealt with before.

Oh man, I HATE this part of pregnancy. I had it really bad with DD...a couple times it was so compacted I had to help it out...so flippin' gross but better than going to the doctor. Sad I've been trying to drink apple juice and eat prunes this pregnancy and it hasn't been so bad...but, wow, it's a terrible problem to have. I hope it clears out soon. Sad

:lurk:
Sandra, ask at the pharmacy for what stool softener you can use while pregnant. I forget the name but they used to give it to me in the antipartum ward when I was pregnant with the boy. I know it really helped. The other thing you could try (but I would ask first) is Iron Kids Vitamins makes a fibre gummy - we give them to Robbie daily as he has my IBS and it works great for him.

I was dealing with this BAD in my first tri. The two things that have helped me are eating yogurt and drinking more water (I'm generally pretty bad about drinking enough). But yeah, I feel your pain...literally. Sad

I had it pretty bad during the first part of this pregnancy. Not as much now but it is awful. Hope you feel better soon.

Colace! 1 in the morning, one in the afternoon.. LIFE saver! When I had to go up and get it not too long enough, that was enough for me to start poo softeners!

Hope you get some relief soon, mama! :bigarmhug:

Milk of magnesia. It was a life saver for me on several occasions. OB recommended it for me. Just make sure you drink a large glass of water with it and it will work with in 12 hrs. Hope you feel better!!

I ate tons of fruit yesterday and had a spicy bowl of vegetarian chili with beans and lentils for lunch, but nothing Wink So I ran out last night and got some senna tablets. Took 2 last night and this morning I finally cleared out a little bit - not as much as I needed to I'm sure but I think I'll take some more pills tonight just to soften things up even more and hopefully I'll be good to go in a few days.

At least things are moving! Don't over compensate and go the other way. Ugh. That hurts too!

No fun. I'm on a constant diet of colace now. It helps! I'm still only going every 2-3 days but at least it stays soft so it doesn't feel like giving birth to get it out. When I was severely compacted, I was wishing for an epidural! Smile drink lots of fluids. Part of my issue was being so nauseous I couldn't get fluids down nearly enough. I'm getting better about it and that's helping.

Well thankfully I never even got around to taking another dose last night, managed to go twice more yesterday afternoon and evening. I'd say 3 times in one day certainly helped!

I'm glad I've got the pills around now though, and I can attest that they work!

Glad you were able to drop some weight...literally. Constipation is ridiculously miserable.
