Default Ugh Ultrasound... **updated with pics**

So I was freaked out before my ultrasound and now I'm even more so.

It all started out ok but then the tech was taking a LONG time and a LOT of pictures. Then she said I could go empty my bladder and bring my hubby into the room and we'd 'meet back there'. Ok, this has never happened to me before. I've been told to empty my bladder before but I've never gone to get hubby myself and had her go away like that.

After I brought DH back into the room we waited for SO LONG for her to come back. SO long. I told him what was going on and how I was super scared. He figured it was fine. Then she comes back in and says she has to look at the plancenta again. So we wait again.

The fun part came next, she showed us baby's feet! My favorite part. They seemed to be crossed at the ankles! Super cute. Then baby's face. He/she had his/her hands up by the face looking so cozy. We saw hands and legs and the spine. The spine is SO cute!

So then things got serious again. The ultrasound tech left again to go 'look at the pictures'. We sat in that room for so long. I was scared. Then she finally came back and asked if we had time to wait 15 minutes and try again for some measurements. I was already freaked out by this point and near tears. She probably could tell him my face and said everything was 'ok'. She said that there was a contraction in the front of my uterus making it hard to get a good look at the placenta. She wanted me to wait 15 mins to see if the contraction goes away. Does this sound legit to anyone?

So we waited a painstaking 15 minutes and then went back in. She said the contraction was gone and she got her measurement. Sigh. By now I'm a mental wreck.

So we came home and I've left a voicemail for the midwife to call me because I'm really scared. Sigh.

Oh, on a lighter note...baby is breech again like my DD was. This one had better turn or mama is going to go postal on the little one. LOL. I know that they move around a lot at this size, but it sort of figured!

Hubby just fixed my other computer so I was able to scan the photos. I paid $15 for four face photos. A hand or a foot would have been nice. Maybe a spine? Annnnnyways...

    Here's the obligatory alien shot:

And cute little baby's profile. I hope he/she has my nice lips! They look good!

Heather, first off...((((HUGE HUGS))))) I'm sorry you were freaked out! As for the contraction, I've read somewhere (and I lurk everywhere so, I have no idea where it was) that someone else was going through a contraction when they were trying to get measurements. If you didn't know about it, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Dr. Google says you can start getting BH early - especially if you're a BTDT mom. Maybe drink more water if you can - and relax. But KUP about what your MW says, and good luck!

Sorry you got completely freaked out, but honestly, more then likely everything is fine! With one of mine they were not able to get a good look at the heart and spine due to baby's position. Well, the tech did all kinds of crazy things trying to get the measurements needed, and I was completely freaking out. I ended up having to come back a week later. Well, they took like a million pics of the heart and I was convinced that they baby had a heart problem. Nope, baby was 100% fine, but apparently when you are sent back for a "re-check" they pretty much have to take a million pics of the one thing asked for... Anyway, it really is not that uncommon that baby will be positioned in such a way that they can't get all the measurements they need. With another one of mine they had to do crazy things to get the head to a place where they could get decent pictures of the brain.

Oh, and don't worry about baby being breech at this point. I think 2 of mine were breech at this point in the past, and all were head down by the start of the third tri.

    *** UPDATE ***

The midwife called just as we were walking out the door to take DD to ballet. The u/s report was great. All was fine. She said that the report said there was no fetal abnormality noted but that it was hard for them to see baby's feet very well. The weirdest thing is she showed us the bottom of baby's feet!!!! Anyways...whatever. All is well in the world again and DD did great at ballet!
