Weekend Chat

Well, we all know what Kia will be doing this weekend Smile

Long weekend for you USA ladies? What are the plans?

I've got a super busy weekend myself. I am finally finishing out my choir season. Last night I had a 3 hour rehearsal, tonight I have my 3.5 hour dress rehearsal, and on Saturday I have 2 concerts. I will be gone from noon to about 10 pm. It will be exhausting but lots of fun, so I am looking forward to it, and hoping I make it through without too much discomfort or pain. Last night by the end of rehearsal I was having painful BH which lasted until I finally got home and went to sleep.

Hey at least you were getting some contractions that you were "complaining" about not having Wink Sounds like a LOT of practice for your concert - is it church related or like an organized group? I wish I could sing but let's be honest, I'm pretty tone deaf.

Long weekend for us - hooray! DH is talking about camping in the backyard with DD who has been wanting to do it forever so they might do that depending on weather. Pretty sure DS and I will sleep inside like normal because I don't think I'd be comfortable out there at this point and DS would likely never go to sleep! Saturday we have a soccer match to go to, last one before the baby comes and last one for a while anyway because we sold all of our June tickets not wanting to drag a newborn to those loud games quite yet. On another note, I woke up at 1:30 with painful cramping/contractions but they fizzled out after about 45 minutes. But when I got up to pee, I had a TON of pressure so I was hoping baby was dropping, but this morning he seems to be back in his normal spot. So close...

Fun for your DH and DD! My DH keeps meaning to backyard camp with our kids. We need a smaller tent though.....our only tent is a 10 person tent and would be hard to fit in our yard!

It is not a church related choir - it's a big organization in the city. There are 5 choirs for different age groups - from 5 year olds to adults - I'm in the choir for ages 20-35. In our choir alone we have about 70 singers, and the whole organization has 280 singers. Next year I will be going through choir withdrawal - not sure I can swing the time commitment and money once the new baby comes.

Yeah I understand the time and money issue. That's awesome though that you've had that outlet to enjoy just for you away from the day to day SAHM routine. We all really need something like that going on to get a break sometimes!! Mine is usually road biking but obviously I haven't been doing that for quite some time and am reeeeeally looking forward to going back out here in a few months (you know, once my nether regions have healed up completely - LOL!).

The thought of sitting on a bike seat right now pretty much makes me want to vomit. LOL.

I have been singing in a choir every year for 19 years. It will be devastating to miss out next year, but I don't think I can swing it now that I have 4 kids. And with my kids getting older and doing more extracurriculars of their own, the money will be tight. I pay over $500 for the year, plus tour expenses. This year we did Banff. Next year is Halifax, NS.

Haircut today at noon, Maternity belly shot at 3:30

Saturday - solo day with DS and I. Hubby is going golfing.

Sunday - might do seaworld in the morning and then I'm having Tea with my mommy and MIL.

No plans for actual Memorial day.

I would really like to go to the beach or something, but I can't walk very long and the heat gets to me. boo Sad

No plans here. Maybe baby? We never have plans for Memorial Day, DH is usually working. Our church is having a picnic and softball night at the park on Sunday, if baby isn't here I will take the kids to that. The weather is supposed to be nice, but there is a small chance of rain.

We are converting a shed into a chicken coop! I HOPE we finish it enough over the weekend to move the chickens in!! We had a small coop that we purchased BRAND NEW, and the wind we had this past weekend (up to 50 mph gusts - not at all uncommon for our area) blew it to bits. Luckily the manufacturer is going to send us a replacement (which we will sell, because if the first one got destroyed after 5 weeks, the next one won't survive either). ANyway, we should have just gone this route in the beginning. The shed is WAY bigger and much more sturdy. We wont have any problem adding a bunch more chickens next spring either! Smile

I'm planning a mostly lazy 3 day weekend. Tomorrow we are going on a small trip to my sister's house (she lives 1.5 hrs up the interstate from me) for my niece's birthday. My mom is coming with us and it'll be a fun little day trip. Otherwise no real plans aside of the normal church on Sunday. I hope to rest a good bit on Sunday and then get some things in order around the house on Monday. I'm sure we'll do a trip to the park or other fun stuff for the boys on Sun/Mon.

I'm excited to see some more babies arrive here too. Smile

Busy busy busy here.

My brother just left. He stopped here to sleep in his way to Ohio for a wedding. He brought friends so I had to clean like crazy. Smile they are going to the wedding tomorrow and Cedar Point Sunday. Then they are coming back here to spend Monday with us. Tonight the kids have piano with their aunt and while they do that Jon has to drive with her husband to Ohio to return a rental car because last weekend they broke down in the middle of nowhere and the only rental they could get was not the kind you can return anywhere else.

Tomorrow is Tori's dance recital and Lucas has soccer right before. My friend is out of town until right before the recital starts and so I'm getting her daughter ready with Tori. So double the hair and make up! Recital isn't as exciting after a full season of dance competitions and seeing her dance every weekend but it'll still be fun.

Saturday evening we will try to get the last of the bedroom projects done.

Sunday is church, a graduation party and a nap I hope!

Monday we hang out with my brother. Tuesday is Tori's birthday...

thursday is the next non-busy day. I'm planning to stay in bed the entire day!

I was looking at the EDD thread and we don't have many early June EDD's. Looks like Sandra, Leah and Ashley are it as far as next in line for EDD's. Then there's Hilary but she hasn't posted here for about 2 months.

Sounds like a crazy weekend for you Rachelle! Take it easy!!!!

I am addicted to cottage cheese right now. DH eats it for breakfast and I keep sneaking bites. It's my go-to bedtime snack now too. And I'm eating some for lunch.

What are you snacking on these days?

Of course, I still snack on bad things. Like.....an entire bin full of cola bottle gummies. Dang, I love those!

Oooh cola gummies sound so good!! I've been snacking a lot on cold cereal and caramels. Tempted to make some homemade caramels because I love them so much right now but I know I'd just eat them all. Still, might not be able to resist... If you go until the 8th-10th, I will *probably* beat you because my doc will likely induce sometimes between the 4th-7th depending on when he'll be at that hospital unless I'm super not ready. He likes to schedule as soon as you hit your EDD and honestly, my willpower by then is gone so I'll likely agree. I had a breezy induction with DS so it's hard to turn that down (zero pain aside from being told to push before he had moved down all the way so I was trying to curl around him in my rib...ouch).

Wow Rachelle, that is a crazy busy weekend!!

DD has a meltdown in a store because I was trying to help her find a necklace to wear in pictures after baby is born and the one she wanted didn't have a tag, so I found her the same one with a tag, turns out it came in a set of 3, and she was like I don't want that one! So I told her if she was going to act like that, she wasn't going to get one at all and she decided to start sobbing and saying "You are making me SAD!" :dramaqueen: Nothing like a million people giving you the stare down. Luckily, my mood is good today so I just ignored her and got myself some running shorts instead with my $10 off gift card. I'll still have to go get her a necklace later but the lesson was learned I hoped.

Ugh, public meltdowns

My OB doesn't really induce til about 10 days past due, which would be the 10th or 11th. So you ladies will likely go first!

Sandra - Wow! You're super woman. I wouldn't survive those long days you're discussing! I rarely make it to 10pm laying on my couch! I like to snack on candy...sour keys mostly. I keep burning my tongue on them.

Ashley - Backyard camping sounds fun!

Noelle - I'm having my hair cut today too...but my maternity photos are tomorrow. I haven't picked outfits for me or DD yet. Ugh, sort of dreading that. Maybe just jeans and white shirts? Blum 3

Leah - I love picnics! I hope the weather holds out. Biggrin

Laurie - YAY for a better chicken coup and for a free replacement to sell! LOL. I love that!

Rachelle - I honestly don't know how to do it. Man, I'm not even sick like you are and I couldn't do HALF of the stuff you do. You're super mom!

We have a few things planned. My pre-baby hair cut is in 30 minutes...then tomorrow is our maternity photos at noon. I still need to figure out what outfits for us to wear. Ugh. I hate that. Tomorrow is also DH's birthday. Sounds like we're going to have a family dinner at a Chinese smorg we go to a lot for family birthdays. I'm fine with that because YUM, I love smorg. Problem is I gave DH his present last week so we have no gift for him tomorrow. LOL.

No plans for Sunday I don't think. I need to get some baby related prep done too.

I finally started watching Downton Abbey. I knew I would love it, but didn't want to get 'involved' in another series because it sucks up all my time! I finally gave in and started a couple nights ago.

Ugh, monsters were up at 5:50 am due to my DD's cough. I have GOT to do something about it. Her coughing wakes her up every morning way too early.

It's a rainy weekend here! I hope those of you with long weekend plans have better weather!

It's been waking her up in the morning for about 6 days now. Ugh.

Glad you have nice weather! At least I will be inside all day at my concerts, but I have to take the LRT to get there, and walk a couple of blocks in the rain with all my choir stuff/uniform.

I think I should eat some breakfast.....all I have eaten today so far is 5 cookies. LOL. I made chocolate cookies with white chocolate chips yesterday and can't stop eating them!

Sorry about your DD's cough. My kids took over 2 full weeks to stop waking themselves up at night when they got this last cold or whatever it was. Awful! Makes it so no one sleeps, then no one gets better, then everyone is cranky.....ahhh!!!

I got on a cleaning kick yesterday - I hesitate to call it nesting because I do this normally too - and am pretty stoked with how clean my house is at the moment. Now if only baby would come in the next week so it could stay looking clean for a short bit of time. On another note, DH is trying to talk me into driving 3 hours out of town at the end of June. Not sure that long of a car ride with three kids including a 3-4 week old sounds like a great time...

Well, I survived my day yesterday. I was gone from noon to 10:15 pm. Thankfully I made it through tons of rehearsing and 2-2 hour choir concerts (even had a solo in the afternoon concert) without being too uncomfortable. We had about 2 hours between concerts and I treated myself to some Chinese takeout Smile

Now there are 6 days until my "due date". Since choir is over now I will be more focused on getting things ready - like MY MESSY HOUSE! Wanna come do mine Ashley?

I didn't get anything done last night. Came home from the recital and didnt get out of bed the rest of the day.

Watching the big race right now. We aren't big into racing but being so close, the Indy 500 is one we always watch. Hopefully next year we can finally start taking the kids (not the baby!).

I was very uncomfortable in church this morning. Mega BH contractions and overall discomfort. I am also, for the first time this pregnancy, starving. Can't. Stop. Eating. Even woke up twice in the night for a snack. I am feeling more and more certain that I'll go early. I could still be pregnant at 39 weeks and going crazy, I know that, but right now I feel like my body is changing and preparing and I'm guessing closer to 37 weeks than 40.

Funny story...
So I got up in the middle of the night to pee and as I'm sitting on the toilet, I feel a big "pop" sensation and then I suddenly had a TON more pee come out so I'm thinking my water broke obviously. I seriously started freaking out mentally that I am not ready for this baby right this second and my heart was racing! But after the initial "burst" of fluid, nothing. So then I'm like, okay I need to walk around to see if that was what I think it was. Nothing still. So I walked up and down the stairs just to be sure...nothing. So basically baby seemed to kick/headbutt my bladder so hard that after I thought it was empty, he got it to release whatever was left in there and scared the crap out of me for nothing but pee! After I got over the initial shock, I was starting to get excited - what a let down! LOL!

Went to a very soggy parade this morning. It was over twice as fast as normal. All the participants were practically running to get it over with. I said it looked more like a 5K than a parade! Then we went dress shopping so Tori is all set for my brother's wedding!

Im having tons of crampiness that feels a lot like menstrual cramps. But my stomach only tightens a little, it's not getting rock hard. Still, I was up almost the whole night because they hurt too much to sleep through. I really feel that I'm getting close. It's a little too early so I'm nervous but hopefully it'll be at least two more weeks.

LOL Ashley, I've had something like that happen earlier on in this pregnancy which always scared me b/c it was too early. Would be a total bummer at the stage you are at though. Sorry baby is playing tricks on you. Any fluid now I always assume is pee...I have absolutely no bladder control! Lovely!!

Heather, don't feel bad really most of us BTDT moms who have been through labor still don't know either.

I have no idea what I'm looking for either and this is #3. I can only say I feel at 34 weeks the way I felt at 38.5 weeks with Lucas. But that doesn't really mean anything. It does concern me a little, though. I seriously always hope my water breaks in dramatic fashion so that I can say for sure this is it! It did with Lucas!

Yeah, labour has been different every time for me, so I never "know for sure". #1 my water broke - DEFINITELY. #2 I was 10 days overdue and started contracting 6 minutes apart and they got closer and were consistent, so I knew it would be happening. #3 I had to be induced.

It was so nice with #1 to KNOW though, because once the water breaks it's the most definite 'sign'.

Yes, my water broke with both and it does really help to "know" Wink
I'll be completely lost if it doesn't start the same way this time!

Chelle, I have been feeling much further along and more uncomfortable earlier with this one too. I hope we both hold on to these babies until 37 or 38 weeks. Smile

Apparently the water only breaks to start labor in about 10% of labors. So I'm not really expecting my water to break first. With DD they broke it for me at 10cm!

My water never breaks on its own. I would be completely shocked if it happened at this point! Wink The only sign for me is contractions that are hard enough that I can't walk or talk through them... even with that, last time my labor with Aidan stalled out at 7-8 cm. The midwife told me to get walking (as in stomping) and it did pick back up again, thankfully.

We finished out chicken coop today!! Smile So nice to have a 3 day weekend. Now that that's done, baby can come!!!!! Come on baby!!

Good morning ladies.

Glad the chicken coop is done Laurie!

My kids have been getting up at 6 am every day now, for 9 days. It is utterly ridiculous. I am NOT a morning person. I need until 7 am or I lose my temper so easily. Waking with a newborn is another story, I can handle it. But a 6 and 4 year old??? NO. It puts me in a bad mood for the whole day. I have no idea what to do about it.

39 week appt today....he'll check me again but I'm about 95% sure there'll be no progress. I have had some aches and some nasty BH, but I doubt they did anything. Oh well! I think I am much more relaxed this time about letting baby come on his own. Last time for the last couple weeks I was trying EVERYTHING to get him out. I wanted to avoid induction so badly. But my induction really wasn't all that bad, so I think I'll just wait patiently this time.

Laurie - if you have 4 more babies after this one, then you can expect your water to break on at least one of them!

Sandra & Ashleigh if you wait until late enough in the day, you can piggyback on my appointment thread this time. On second thought, I'll just piggyback on yours again. Assuming your threads don't lead with she checked me and I went into labor - then I'll let you have your own Smile

Sandra - DD has been waking up at 5:30 for the past week, and I have NO idea what to do. She has a gro clock, and we're trying to enforce it (we even moved it back from 7 to 6:30 so that we could enforce it better) and we're taking her back to her bed - but it's BRUTAL. Thankfully DH is feeling better (he was a wreck with strep/fever all weekend) and is able to take her again in the mornings.

Yesterday we went to the beach (which has a great park too) for 2.5 hours - (DD, mom and me) and today we're thinking beach again with the cousins, it was so nice and relaxing (mostly cause 2 adults for one kid is awesome!). Guess I should go pack snacks!

Ooh the beach sounds nice! And ITA it's always nice to have more adults than kids.

Laurie: woohoo for getting the coop done!

Sandra: Both of my other two were induced (first one due to pre-e and second due to just being overdue) and I've had pretty easy inductions both times, especially w/my second. I'm hoping for some sort of progress today too but feel way too normal to probably have made any!

Heather: I'm always freaked that my water will break in my bed.

Looking forward to my appointment later this morning. It got scheduled at a really bad time so I have to shuffle the kids around and get help picking up DD from preschool but luckily I have a nice mom and MIL to help me out. I'm sure it'll be another "We'll see you next week" appointment but at least I know I'll only have one more after this most likely since he'll likely schedule something at my 40 week appt if I haven't gone before then. DH has a ton going on with work this weekend anyway so it wouldn't be the best timing to be having a baby although if it does happen I'm sure he'll just get more help than he was planning on.

My appt is mid-morning again, so I'll have 2 kids with me. At least it's not early afternoon during naptime! That was a disaster. I wish we still lived by family. I probably could have found someone to watch them but I'd rather save my favours for if I go into labour before my mom gets here on June 8th.

Completely random thought - it bugs me how the spell check on here thinks my Canadian spelling is wrong. LOL. Favour. Labour. Favourite. Splendour. Cheque. Those are all "spelled wrong". But not.

LOL I never thought about it correcting your spelling for that "style"...too funny! We want to Americanize you dangit! haha Wink GL with taking the kids with you. Which 2 do you have? The boys?

I forgot to mention, DH told me last night that he's officially giving me final naming rights to this baby because I gave them to his with DS1. We're *pretty much* down to 2 names although we have five on the table in case the main 2 don't pan out, but I LOVE one of the two and DH loves the other and we both like the other. We both like the other 3 but have minor issues with each of them so they aren't huge contenders at this point. All I can hope is that he seriously looks like one or the other when he's born!!

Woo! Naming rights! I'd love some of those........

Thankfully I have DD and DS2, so she is a help with him, at least. She has afternoon kindergarten and DS1 is in preschool full time. DS1 would be a NIGHTMARE to bring. LOL. So is DS2, but at least DD can help wrangle him.

I feel like DH and I need to brainstorm names again. He is pretty set on Ethan, but I can't believe how popular it is this year. Crazy. And there aren't many E names both of us like.

I doubt it... They have to break my water at 10 cm to get the head to fully descend. I guess I could always just labor an extra hour or two at the end and eventually baby would come out - probably with the bag of water still in tact!

I don't know about Canada, but I was looking on the Social Security website for the year my DD was born and it was #2 the year she was born. But at her very big preschool, I've only ever heard of one Ethan (DH loves that name so that's why I've noticed). I just think there aren't that many of the top names and running into others is almost coincidental. I wouldn't let it deter you if you like it otherwise. I've heard names over and over on kids here that aren't even in my state's top 100, then the top 10 I never hear! Weird.

Laurie: that's how both of my kids have been so far too (have to break my water for them to drop).
