Weight gain

How is everyone doing in the weight gain department?

I weighted myself today and I'm only up 1 lb in the last 5 weeks. I'm SUPER happy about that because my diet has been utter garbage recently. I don't mind gaining weight, but I just don't want to gain as much as I did when I was pg with DD. See, I recently worked hard to lose 25lbs and was on this restrictive diet that cut out a lot of carbs and sugars. I was worried that adding them back would mean a huge gain.

My pre-preg weight this time is about 12 lbs lighter than I was with DD. I'm starting at 153 lbs this time and hoping to stay under 200 lbs. Last time I did not. I was huge and it was way more work to lose it afterwards.

At 10 weeks pg with DD I was up 4 lbs. Today is 9 weeks and I'm only up 1. That's good...but I'm more of a late gainer...when the Big Mac cravings kick in. Oh man, DH still doesn't know how many Big Macs I ate last pregnancy! I work at home with him now though so I might have a wee bit more accountability this time. Blum 3

LOL, ugh! I think I'm up about 3-4 pounds, not sure. We don't have a scale. I've been beyond hungry and eating a lot of processed garbage. I always gain a good 12-15 pounds in the first trimester though. I'm naturally fairly skinny (5'10" and a size 4-6), and I think my body just likes to make sure there is some cushion in place for baby to nestle in. It will be nice to get to the second tri. My appetite becomes much more "normal" and I'll actually feel like cooking decent meals again. Smile

i'm up 5 lbs. ugh! I think that's pretty normal though so I wont worry about it. I started out 10lbs less then with DS2 so I'm happy about that. With DS1 I gained 45 lbs! So it can't be any worse! haha

SHUSH you! I'm 5'8" and I always tell myself there is no way I could be a size 4-6 because I'd look like I was a victim of a war camp or something. LOL. You're shattering my illusions here! Blum 3 I think I was a 10-12 before I got pg but I was pretty high before I lost the 25 lbs. I was running out of clothes to wear and didn't want to buy more.

I'm pretty sure there is something to that whole 'cushion in place' thing. The body does seem to know what it needs to make a baby cozy! Last time I really noticed the gain in of fat stores in my hips and thighs...which is where I REALLY don't need more fat. Ba ha ha!

That's not bad though! 5lbs is to be expected. I guess if we were sicker, we'd have gained less. Blum 3

I'm pretty sure I gained over 45 lbs with DD. When I hit 200 lbs I got a bit sad and shut down all memories of it. LOL. I do know, however, that it was quite a few weeks before delivery when I hit 200. Ugh!

At last apponitment I was up two pounds. I haven't been weighing myself at home, I just wait until I go to the doctor.

I'm pretty sure I'm down 3. I was staying constant for the first few weeks, then I stopped working out, and lost a few pounds. This is quite typical of me - I lose weight when I STOP working out. LOL! But it's probably fluid loss that's held in the muscles when you're using them. I only got back to pre-pgn weight at 20 weeks last time, so I'm doing much better this time I think as far as not losing too much.

I have no idea. I don't own a scale, but I've gained 35 lbs with each kid and it has been 9 months on and 9 months off. And for reasons I don't understand even as sick as I get the first trimester, I still usually manage to gain weight. I consider this entirely unfair.

I feel like I have, but I don't think that I have. I actually feel clothes getting tighter already.

I'm hoping to gain very little until the end because I am 214 and 5'9" and I HATE being overweight. I've lost 20 lbs in the past year and am just eating sensibly and should be able to maintain through the first trimester. After DS I was diagnosed with thryoid issues and insulin resistance and monitoring those levels has actually helped me lose weight normally. (Before I would practically starve myself to lose weight)

With DS I weighed about the same and only gained about 15-20 lbs, but I had him at 5 weeks early so I didn't have the last month per week gain either.

I'm up about 2 so far. I'm a very small girl (5'3 and 112 lbs pre-pg) so a few pounds looks like a lot more on me! I definitely look like I've put on a little weight. I'd love to have some of this height you girls have!

We don't own a scale, but I hopped on the Wii Fit the other day Lol and it said I was down about 5 lbs from my usual weight. Not sure if it was being accurate, since I usually never lose weight (since I don't get sick), but I'll take it!

I try to keep my gain to 30 lbs. With DD I gained 50. With my boys I gained around 30, but when you have nearly 10 lb babies, I guess you gotta pack on the pounds Smile

We use our Wii Fit to weigh ourselves too! We have scales but we are scientists so we like the graphs.

:lurk:

lol, I got down to 200lbs when I had Robbie, I weigh about 20 lbs more then I did when I got pregnant with Robbie Sad Wish I could have kept the weight off and lost more. Weird that my body like to lose weight when I am pregnant. I had lost 15lbs with Bailey who died at 12 weeks. And I eat a TON when I am pregnant!

Sandra, you get so big with your babies I can't even imagine how you walk with your big belly! I hope I have a 6lber which is about what Robbie would have been if he was not 4 weeks early.

You never know though...I've seen pretty small girls carry some huge babies like nothing and others carry small babies HUGE. Just depends on your body I guess! I've had a 6 lb 13 oz and a 7 lb 14 oz and couldn't tell much of a difference (but that's only a pound obviously). Oh and I was pretty huge with my

So far I think I have gained 3 lbs. which I'm surprised because I have been forcing myself to eat. Although I did go from working out at least 3 times a week to not working out because I'm utterly exhausted. I'm about 5'4" and was at 118 and now 121. So you can definitely tell that's have gained some weight. Which is why my jeans don't button now. Ha

I'm hoping to gain 30 to 35 lbs this time. I gained 38 with DD and 30 with DS.

I am a heavier girl to start with and with elora i was down 12 by the time i had her. I initially lost 39 lbs because I was eating healthier and being sick but gained back 17 by the end. Right now i am down 30 lbs. but good news is, i can eat again! love zofran.

I get HUGELY ENORMOUS by the end of my pregnancy. I am a fairly small/average girl (usually 5'6", 130 lbs) but I have nearly 10 lb boys. This will likely be the last baby.....I am so glad I only have one more time to tote around the HUGE belly on my fairly small frame!

Since I'm out of town for work, I'm not really sure. But, like you, I tend to gain later on. Not so much in the first trimester. I will see when I get home, but I think I'm about the same so far.

Ohhh I don't know. I know my starting weight and my midwife isn't concerned, so unless she really thinks it's necessary I think I will avoid the scale this pregnancy too. I did last time and it was okay. We estimated I gained about 35 pounds, which I think was a lot. I lost 33 of it before getting pregnant again. So hopefully I keep it around 20-25 this time?? I dunno, I just ate a ton of Halloween candy. Haha.

Yup, I know. All the babies in my biological family have been in the 6-7 lb range, actually that is fairly accurate of my adoptive family as well. All 4 of my biological mom's babies were just over 5lbs.

LMAO, so cute! 35 lbs is a LOT? Ummmm....nope. Actually, my midwife told me last visit that they like to see you at 35 max. I'm sure I was well over 45 lbs and I know people who put on 70-100lbs. Not ideal, but 35 lbs is definitely not a lot. I don't know what your midwive is like but mine tends to not say anything about things like weight...even if she THINKS you should ease up on the weight. She seems to be more of a 'say less and just observe' type of person. It's nice in a way but I found with my first pg I had to ask a LOT of questions to find out stuff that I wanted to know...DH and I are scientist types and love facts.

I never lost weight after DS. still had 10 lbs to go! I am short. 5'3" (bc I round up) and before this preg I was down to 135-138. It fluctuated almost daily but didnt go over 138 or under 135. I think my scale here is off though bc I weighed 135 by my scale and when I went to the dr they tol dme 133. As of right now, by my scale I am 138 (after a huge dinner.) I usually weigh myself in the morning.. this mornign I Was 135 still. SO I am taking that as no weight gain yet! WHOOHOOO. However I gained more later on. with DS I gained 60lbs. praying I dont put on that much this time! I was pushing 200 and Im only 5'3"!!
