I am hoping for my second home birth. My 2nd baby was born at home in a birth pool. It was fantastic. We planned it for my third but unfortunately it didn't go to plan and I was blue lighted to hospital an hour before the birth. Desperately hoping for another home birth this time.
Good for you! I admire women who birth naturally and at home. Could never do it myself My younger sister was born in a tub in our dining room when I was 12 years old.
I will be having a hospital birth with an epidural I love me some pain meds! I am a super big wimp with a super low pain tolerance.
I have also had 2 natural hospital births and am planning the same for this one. I would totally do a birth center if that was an option but there is not one near me. I have no desire for a home birth personally. Not b/c I'm worried about the risk I just don't desire to be at home....I know the "messiness" of it can be planned for and easily handled by the midwife team but I just don't want to do that at home. I like going off to the hospital.
I think we're going homebirth this time around. We had a natural hospital birth last time, and it was great - but getting discharged fast was a bit annoying (we were at the hospital for a total of 9 hours, and I didn't care for the nurses coming in and being a bit rude with the monitoring), and with a homebirth we wouldn't have to worry about that. And this time around I have a midwife vs. a family doc last time who only did hospital deliveries. And I was worried about a lot more things, mostly mess last time, but now I'm much more comfortable with the whole process that I think I will be happy to just be at home!
Wow I didn't realize we had that many natural birth moms on our board!
I've been induced with my last two past my EDDs (one for pre-e and the second because I wasn't progressing and was given the option) so unless this baby decides to be different and come on its own, I expect another induction and will definitely have an epidural again if that's the case. It didnt take with my first (until it was redone many hours later) and Pitocin contractions were more than I could handle. If baby tries to come on his/her own, I will see how it goes before making a decision. I hate the dead legs and catheter that come with the epidural but love the pain relief so we'll see which wins.
I will be having a natural birth in a stand a lone birth center. Just like a home birth, but without 5 curious little ones looking on, and then wanting to hold the new baby the second it pops out!! Thankfully the average stay at a birth center (after birth) is just 4-5 hours, so I'll get in some good snuggle time with my fresh little one, and then get to go home and relax - and let all the curious on lookers descend! My last one was born at the birth center, and it was really nice. Baby was born at night, so other than my husband and I. The only people that were even present at the building were the 2 midwives.
All your natural birth experiences and plans sound so nice! Wish I could conceivably believe that I could go natural......*hysterical laughter* Would never happen. I hate the catheter and lead legs that come along with the epi too, but I am NOT good at handling pain. I was induced with #3 and those pit contractions are the DEVIL.
