36 hours is seriously nuts. I have heard of it before, but it takes a lot of desire/strength to go that long Jackie. I was only 4 cm when I arrived at the hospital after about 4 hours of active labor. However, at my previous appt a few days earlier, I was 2cm and 95% effaced - which my doc was shocked about since it was my first time. But then 4-10 happened in another 4 so that was pretty good! I'd say 9 hours for a first is quite good, I'm looking forward to even shorter this time around!
With my first my water broke and I was less then 1cm and I had him 5.5 hours later. With my second the Dr. broke my water and I was at 4cm and she came 2 hours and 20 minute later. I don't know what to think will happen this time! I almost hope they break my water again so I'm not worrying about it!
My first was 11 hours and I was dilated already 2 cm before labor started. My second was 2 hours. They simply broke my water when I was already 4 cm. My third was 4 hours - and already dilated to a 7 before labor began. My 4th was 6 hours - I was dilated between 4-5 when labor began. My 5th was 8 hours - I was "only" dilated to a 3 when labor began. I'm hoping for the 6 hour thing again this time. That was just about perfect!
I will definitely be in the hospital but the details from there are gonna be decided as it happens. As long as I deliver at my hospital the entire bill is comped... Absolutely 100% is covered. Csection or vaginal is whatever is necessary for the baby/my hips. And if its vaginal ill get the epidural or not... I don't actually have any solid stance either way
Hospital birth. Whether medicated or not will be decided in the moment. I was planning to skip it last time but after my water broke, nothing happened. I tried walking but I was leaking fluid and, so gross, I slipped in it and really hurt myself. Then I was scared to get out of bed. So in that exact situation, I chose a bit of pitocin and an epidural. But I just try to know my options and make the best decision in whatever situation I am facing.
I will pretty much do anything on earth to avoid a c/s. I know my body would not react well and healing would be hell. I had laparoscopic surgery once and my itty bitty incisions from that took three months to close up and heal over. I can't even fathom a full abdominal incision. I'd be so screwed. It is my worst fear.
