This child is going to give me a heart attack!!!!

Moriah freaked me out this morning! All I know is that there were two pennies setting on our computer desk downstairs. I was getting breakfast ready and the girls were watching PBS. I saw her eyeing the pennies and I told her no. I should have just moved them but the next thing I know is the pennies are gone from the desk. I went to grab her and lay her down (she needed a diaper change anyway) and I was going to pry them out of her little fist. As soon as I laid her on her back she started to gag. I immediately picked her up and flipped her over. She gagged once more and then was fine. I looked for the pennies and I only saw one on the floor??? My immediate reaction was that she had one in her mouth and when I laid her down she swallowed it. Or maybe the one on the floor was the one she spit up??

I brought her into the ped who did an X-Ray. The X-ray showed NO penny in her windpipe, trach, lungs, stomach, intestines.... I was baffled. I don't know whether she swallowed it her, then choked it out, dropped it and that is why I only found one? I have no idea. The doctor said that if she did swallow it, look for it in her diaper in 48-72 hours. But chances are that she didn't swallow it. ?????? I am confused. She is acting totally fine and normal. Good grief. I take my eyes off of her for a second......

Pennies are easy for kids to hide. Mine do it all the time and I'll find them in strange places, but did you check computer disk drives or the DVD/VCR? My computer quit working shortly after a couple of pennies went missing from my desk and when DH and a friend took it apart to see what had happened they found the pennies deep inside the drive. Friend now asks Miriam if she's made any deposits into the First National Bank of CDRom.

That would be scary, but at least the scans didn't show anything, so likely she hid it somewhere.

Victoria puts everything in her mouth, and it's driving me nuts, especially since the boys leave so much lying around. She has come up to me with up to 4 marbles in her mouth

OMG! I would have freaked!! I'm glad she's okay though!

Miles LOVES change. Thank God he hasn't put any in his mouth, but he plays with them, or gives them to us, usually he puts them in his pockets!

The babysitter gave Liam a little baggy of Jelly Beans:mad: the other day becuase he was the only one who did not get a time out the whole day:D

well when we got home he had a meltdown for them and I gave in:( I put him in his high chair and sat right across from him and nursed Eloise while he ate them. I was talking to my dad on the phone when he started gagging, but not coughing. His eyes immediately started watering and he looked scared. I put her down on the floor and swooped him up. It took 8 back blows before it came out. I was terrified and he freaked!! I was just glad I did not have to do the AcTUAL himelich (sp?) on him. So scary.

On the plus side...he is totally uninterested in jelly beans as Easter approaches, and that gives me a great excuse to tell my family no candy at Easter, they DO NOT understand why we don't want him having all that crap - I know it is fun and I am no fuddy duddy, but when he is just as happy or happier to eat an apple or grape i would rather him do that!!

Yikes, Jo... That is scary!! Moriah choked on a jelly bean in the car once. She coughed it up on her own, but ugh, scaaaaaary!!

I have been checking her poop daily and no penny to be found... Every time she sees a coin, she says "No eat the money" so whether she actually ingested the penny, at least she learned a lesson from the experience.....
